What started out as a missing pencil and other items is a much bigger case to solve. Who is taking things? Zoey Lyndon is on the case. If you missed the 1st book in the series, Zoey Lyndon’s Big Move to the Lou you know how important it was for Zoey to establish herself in a new school. She know has her friend squad and together they will conquer the case of who is the Sticky Bandit as well as be victorious in the school’s Talent show.
The Glitz Girls-Zoey’s Crew
The Glitz Girls are now in rehearsals as they learn how to dance. So what dances will they do? They learn what free style is and take on their own way of moving to the music. The girls are all at Zoey’s home and learning their steps. One of the best parts is before that Zoey and her family come together for breakfast and also doing their chores. In my home just like many Black homes, when your parents play RnB that means it’s time to clean. The memories of that was so good. My daughter asked me if this was some unknown parental meeting to do the same since we do the same in our home. I smiled and said in a way it was.
Friendship Goals
One of the things that happened in the first book while Zoey established herself is that she now has her own crew. She now has her own level of friendship that goes beyond school. From the fair that they attended they have grown to depend on each other. I love that. Girls in this age group need to be able to have a set of friends that they can depend on. I also love how the parents help to foster these budding friendships too.
Hard Times
Without revealing who the Sticky Bandit is there is a student who is dealing with hard times. You ever remember being in school and seeing the one student who got in trouble consistently. Maybe you were the student who this applies to. Well the Sticky Bandit is having some issues of her own. I always tell my kids that bad behavior is still a sign that something is wrong. How do you support a child that is going though hard times. I spoke to my youngest about how often times people label kids when they demonstrate certain behaviors not knowing that often times its a cry for help. There are times when students show bad behavior when nothing is going wrong too.
Today is Children’s Book Day. A day to increase you child’s love of reading and books. If you have ever taken your children to the bookstore you know how much their eyes light up. Many children have a thirst for adventure. Find them books that touch their interest. If you need some help here are some suggestions. I will be updating new books for the Spring/Summer reading list.
