Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

I’m still on my journey of social distance activities and within that journey I have found Wonderspace to be a go! If you remember from the Winter, I attended the media event there and had a ball with my girl! We enjoyed every moment of the exhibits. So now that COVID-19 has hit, how Is Wonderspace keeping everyone safe?

Precautions

Let me reiterate that if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 please stay home. Even if you think it’s allergies until you know for sure. I say this as a personal disclaimer as people around you even if they are social distancing won’t know what you have and will feel uncomfortable. Wonderspaces has hand sanitizer all around in about every exhibit. Please use them. They also will do a temperature check before letting you in. In addition to that they have a check in that allows you to use their kiosk or to take a picture of a code and check in on your phone. This is before you even enter!

I was glad to see that Wonderspaces has stepped go in making sure they provide all they can to keep the workers and them safe. Masks of course is mandatory throughout. So if you don’t want to wear a mask or shield, please stay home. Also Wonderspaces is limiting the amount of people inside. It’s already huge inside as it is. It makes it easy to social distance. Please be patient once there not only with staff but with yourselves. Tickets MUST be purchased before you get there and they are timed entry.

New Exhibits

There are a few of my favorites that haven’t changed like Squid Soup at Emergence. This is the room that has the squid like tentacles that hang down and gives the best light show. It’s mesmerizing. I went there first with my family. Let me thank Aversa PR for inviting my family as we did a segment with Fox 29 with Alex Holley. It was like the exhibit was open for just us! We had a great time.

If you want to see the light show go to my Instagram stories as well as the Philly Philly highlight!

Robot Artist

No that wasn’t a typo. They have a new robot exhibit. Its called Human Study by Patrick Tresset. It’s mesmerizing. With us being a party of 6 it would have been too much time to even have one of us do it. However we enjoyed watching Alex get her picture drawn of herself. The robots were amazing. They took their time too. You have to sit in the chair, the robots are hard at work recreating your look!

If you remember from my last blog post of Wonderspaces the Balls used to be there!

The robots replaces this exhibit. It’s a treat to see and I’m glad it’s there to be honest. Keep in mind before the shut down all of the exhibits would have moved around to keep it new and give it a new feel.

Sweet Spot

This is one of my other favorite. The strings are so captivating. They are still here. This is by Shawn Causey and Mark Daniell. This was the first time the kids have come. So it was a treat to see how they enjoyed it!

Ferreflection Pool

This is a new exhibit. It’s like a big oil container that moves with your movement. It’s like you are the director. I loved this too. It’s almost like Body Painting. I took the kids to this before we went to Body Painting. They loved this a lot. They kept talking about it. It’s amazing to see how the sensors pick up on your movement to mimic it inside of the oil pool. This exhibit is by Mesplé.

Transitions

So we decided to take the kids to the one of the VR exhibits called Transitions. They loved it. You put on a VR set and sit and enjoy the show. Also let me be clear, you already have on your mask. They also give you a eye mask that covers your forehead, around the eyes, and cheeks area basically you will have full face coverage. They didn’t have the eye mask at least when I was there in the Winter. In addition they clean them before and after use. So you will be protected. You can also clean them yourself to if that makes you more comfortable in addition to them wiping the headsets too!

Keep in mind there are 10 exhibits. I want you to experience them all. It was a great outing. One of my favorites that I saved for last was Sun by Philip Schutte. It always makes me feel like I’m in control of life for a minute!

So yes there is a waiver to sign, hand sanitizer, plenty of space to social distance, and limited number or tickets and no group sales of 10 or more but the fun and excitement still remains the same.

Thanks to Aversa PR, Alex Holley of Fox 29 and camera woman, and the staff of Wonderspace. Thank you to Jenn McCreary, General Manager of Wonderspaces as well. She was so welcoming and took care of us.

Wonderspaces is locate inside of the Fashion District, 11th and Market here in Philadelphia. Entrance is located on exterior of 11th street. You can find more information by clicking here!
