Good Wellness Wednesday to you all. I hope you are having a successful week so far. Here is our midweek check in. This week so far has been fairly good. We are coming back from a quick trip to support friends in their time of grief. In addition to traveling, I have been getting particular about what I need at any time so that I can be at my best.
Know Yourself-Wednesday Adoration
For the last month or so I have been adamant about moving and doing things that make sense to me. No longer in my people pleasing phase in life. I also had to get comfortable making a decision without apologizing for it. For instance, if someone ask me if I can do something saying no without an explanation. The desire to continue to say no but this is why used to have me in a chokehold. I would admire the ones who moved like that without batting an eye. For me, I would say no and then have this long explanation. It feels good to get it right and feel good about being grown.
Also, people think self-care is just the art of doing fun things or relaxing things alone. It is learning to take a step back and giving yourself whatever you need. Sometimes that need is to step back even in social circles and rejoin when you are ready. This could be coming to an event later or leaving early. Learning to tap out when you need to. For instance, I am stepping back from taking trips with friends where I don’t have my own room. It’s not about getting along with others; I am grown and need to stretch out in my bed. I’ve considered the fact that it’s okay to enjoy my personal time even when you are around a bunch of people. This is self-care too.
Recent Journal Prompts
I am a journal type person. It’s about seeing my responses to things that is occurring. Lately I have been really taking personal stock of myself. If you aren’t taking time to self-check,I need you to do that. This is the time to be honest with self. If you are missing the mark somewhere it’s okay to acknowledge it. In your acknowledgement also have a plan or be willing to receive a plan. So, my journal entries look deep, but they are necessary. This list is here to inspire you.
- What ways are you sabotaging yourself?
- How can you shutoff your thoughts before bed?
- If there’s a time in your life that brought joy, what lessons can you take from it and apply now?
Wednesday Joy
One thing I want to dispel that if you have mental health issues that you are overwhelmingly sad or depressed all the time. That is not true. You have your moments. However, I want to explain that joy is what you create. For me, time off and down time has been the greatest joy. Today there was an event. Originally, I set a block for no events. I found myself a little pricked when the event email went out and I wasn’t on the receiving end. I had to remind myself that I am missing anything. The block I set was set for a reason. Rest is essential. So, I am excited for today’s down time. For me down time gives me time to create content instead of being on go every day.
You must find your joy. Joy is all around you. We must learn how to see it. Again, this is why I started the national day highlights. It helped me to see joy in every day until I could create it on my own.
Looking Ahead
Fall back is going to happen on Sunday November 5th. This means that we will have that alleged extra hour of sleep. If you struggle now or in the past with seasonal depression, we muststart prepping for it now. I use my light therapy lamp because it creates light that you use for at least 10-15 a day. This is to help boost your mood.
Here are a few other things you can do to get ready as well:
- Go to bed and wake up at your regular time
- Eliminate caffeine a few days before
- Keep your exercise regimen the same
- Eat a balanced diet
Well, that is all for our mid-week check in. I will be back with a check-in on Friday. In addition, I will be sharing an amazing piece from Quintessence Theatre from the past weekend. Make your week as amazing as you are. Have a wonderful week. Happy Wednesday.
