Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Spring

Happy March and Wednesday. What are we doing about to end the first quarter of the year? Here we are with a new month to make things happen. February has been a whirlwind. There has been some real crazy lows and some amazing highs. So let’s recap February and get right for March.

Wednesday’s Recap: February Lows and Highs

For most people learning how to navigate wellness is a daunting task. For me February has revealed just how hard my seasonal depression had gotten. People have often criticized the way that I share my wellness story. However I am not stopping. There is another Toi, I am sure around the world that can’t speak up. That Toi (insert any name) is struggling trying to appear whole when she is indeed not. This month I experienced irritability, sleep issues, increased sadness and more. It was overwhelming to say the least. However thank goodness that I knew what to do for my personal mental health.

Spring

February I was able to get back in therapy and adding medication. I know that taking medication isn’t for everyone. However unlike the first time I had to take it when I was dealing with postpartum depression the options are better. The one that I am doesn’t give me many side effects, alter my personality, or make me drowsy.

March Goals

Happy March. New month means new goals. I am looking forward to seeing Spring come in. This is the time when many of those who suffer depression to reemerge. March brings new challenges also. So get ready for it. Prepare yourself for the blessings and work hard to see more of a return. March is also Women’s History Month and although I usually for the last 4-5 years have done individual interviews I won’t be doing that this year. This year I will highlight the women that have impacted me personally. One thing about balance is knowing when you need to step back.

Wednesday’s New Restaurant Alert

I attended the media preview of Brewerytown Food Hall. This is  the spot to play table games, watch sports, dance, relax, eat, and catch up. The food was really good. It’s always a fun time watching us media get the shots that we need to showcase a restaurant. I believe many going there will absolutely love the casual vibe that they over. In addition to the casual vibes I like that they have 3 bars between 2 floors. The space is open to allow you to not feel as if you are sitting on top of others.

So if you like a good meal accompanied by some amazing cocktails and mocktails you must try. Due to my medication I am limiting my alcohol intake. What that means that instead of just my two drink maximum I am on a one drink maximum and mocktails. The mocktails at Brewerytown Food Hall is hands down delicious. In addition they are prepared and look like the other cocktails. Some restaurants say they have mocktails but they really have is a Shirley Temple drink from the kids menu.

Blogs you May Have Missed

Self care has been the name of the game. So if you noticed a drop in blogs you are seeing correctly. In order for me to balance I have been taking February to realign with myself. March the plan is to go back to my normal schedule. However if I see a drop in my wellness I will step back. I encourage you to do the same in various areas of your life.
