How hard is it to reward yourself? If you do something good, are you more inclined to simply not acknowledge your efforts. If you struggle with it or don’t remember the last time you told yourself of the amazing job that you are doing this blog is for you.
Self-Reward and Mental Health
If you have ever lived in your self-doubt, then you know how hard it is to maneuver in it. Your confidence can be shot with just one negative thought. Rewarding yourself is a great way to boost your mood and help with your mental health. There is so much that happens in a day that deregulates you.
From stress to family and everything else in between. Learn to give yourself grace. Life is it at times. Sometimes not giving up is a reason to celebrate. If you have ever been down, you know that giving up is one of the first tactics that takes place mentally. No one needs to further their downward spiral that self-hate brings.
What ways to Reward Yourself
This should start with at best saying out loud how grateful you are to be able to make great decisions. Then you can celebrate your wins in a million and one ways. Here are some suggestions from the simple to the elaborate:
• Treat yourself to your favorite drink
• Spa day
• Get a Card for yourself or send to someone else
• Enjoy your favorite meal
• Get a new book
• Pick out a new makeup/lip color, etc
• Meet up with friends
• Enjoy a walk/run
• Make your favorite treat
• Dance like no one is watching
• Be your own hype man/woman
• Get a new planner or other organizational item
Why Celebrate yourself and your wins?
You are deserving. All the things that you could be doing with your life, and you choose good, celebrate it. Remember you are going to make mistakes. So, if you are waiting for your life to be without mistakes you will be waiting an eternity. Even when you go to do good, bad choices will still knock on the door of your heart. How you proceed to make sure that you are making the best decisions is sometimes not as easy as everyone thinks.
Would you celebrate a child’s accomplishments? Yes, and I hope without second guessing it. I learned early on in my marriage that celebrating the little wins as well as the big ones helps to build between two people. How much more for yourself? You get to be stronger, increase the desire to do well, and even trust yourself more when you learn to celebrate the wins of your world.
What Happens when you know to celebrate but you find it hard?
Remeber, you are not alone. All of us struggle. So, when you find yourself struggling, I want you to do some small ways of saving them. How do you do that? Write them down. I have a book that I write the wins down. It is something that I write down even more now. So, each week I write down the things that I have done. It can be as big as a new campaign to as small as getting the kids to school on time all week. Write it down. Sometimes I will do one of the suggestions I gave like grab my favorite drink to celebrate. Often I like to incorporate my on-the-go self-care as a way to celebrate.
I learned in therapy is that we sometimes get stuck in what others have thought about us in our past that we can’t be present. You do the bare minimum, but you don’t get to be happy about the life that you have created and are creating now.
