Happy Thursday. I hope today finds you in peace. Today I wanted to delay yesterday’s wellness check in to make sure that I attended my doctor’s appointment. I have always been open about my wellness journey. Just like your life it comes with ups and downs. I have recently started therapy and with that I have added my personal doctor into the journey. Read below to see how that goes.
Thursday Wellness
I have been doing what my therapist has been telling me in making sure that I am intentional with my wellness. So more journaling, keeping up physically, and now that I have gone to my doctors limiting more of my cocktails. It’s important for me to be honest about where I am. For some it may seem as if it’s too much. However, at the end of the day, there are many who used to be like the old me. The old me would hide behind my smiles. I also would hide behind the content. With keeping a schedule with content, it’s easier to put up good content and be at home miserable and having a mental breakdown. Luckily I am not in meltdown mode but the depression I struggle with has been on full display.
Here are my personal symptoms:
- Decreased energy to do the things that I love
- Not wanting to get out of the bed
- Increased irritability
- Over stressed over simple tasks
- Blurred mind-can’t remember anything that is due or needs to be done
- Increasingly sad
Journal Prompts
I have been starting a series of journal prompts including the one that was posted today. These prompts do more for me than anything. Taking time out of my day to take care of the little things is key. Those moments of grounding are important to me. So start your own journal prompts. For some more encouragement read Monday’s Journal Prompt blog.
Other Blogs Missed This Week
I am back on my writing flow. A lot of the blogs that have been done while I was struggling were done ahead of time. This is key for anyone who is a Blogger or desires to be one, there is content to be made. Always have material on hand that you can live your life. Whenever I go on vacation, get sick or more I always have articles on stand by. Also look ahead at things like the national holidays and make content around that as well. That’s easy content tips for anyone to follow. Here are the blogs you may have missed:
Friday Check-In: February 17, 2023
Kiss presented by Wilma Theatre
EmpathitRaX with Philadelphia Theatre Company
Participating in Lent as a Non Catholic
Wednesday Doctor Visit
I made an appointment with my personal doctor at the push of my therapist. The point was to get a full hands on deck approach to this wellness journey. If you remember when I spoke from the beginning of my therapy journey years ago I started with my doctor to find a therapist. Now that I knew where to start with the therapist it makes sense to keep my doctor in the loop. When I called them last week to make an appointment they asked me if I felt that I needed an earlier appointment. They encouraged me to call back if things changed. They also used phrases like we need you here, you are worthy to encourage positive mindsets. I love that.
Thankfully that appointment went well and I’m starting a new medication so we shall see how that goes. My doctor listened to my concerns and together we came up with a plan that hopefully will be the one that works.
Unframed-Thursday Media Alert
Last night I attended the opening of Unframed. It’s a club vibe on the second floor of Frame. I must say I enjoyed my cocktail at the bar downstairs and brought it upstairs with me. They do have a bar on the second floor as well. Seeing all of the movers and shakers of Philadelphia party was a lot of fun.
We danced, laughed and enjoyed ourselves. The Dj was hands down the best I’ve heard in a long time. So if you’re looking to be outside and have a great time Frame is place to be. Enjoy some dinner downstairs then work off your pounds on the second floor. There are places to dance and sit (but do get up and move).
Well that is for the week so far. I will be back tomorrow with some of the fillers that were missed and of course a new podcast episode. Happy almost Friday to you all. Keep doing what you are doing.
