What a dynamic, hilarious, and timely production with This is the Week that is! It was my first time seeing this comedic monologue and I loved the entire show. 1812 Productions did a phenomenal job and it’s a must see this season!
What to Expect Before you Go
As always make sure you come about 20-40 minutes before the showing. They have a bar that has the cutest 1812 adult sippy cups. The drinks are reasonably priced. I spent a total of a little over 20 with tips for 2 drinks. If you get one drink you will get about 3 dollars off for your second drink. The bathrooms are located downstairs from the theater and they are gender neutral! The show is about a little under 2.5 hours with an intermission. I was back in my car a little after 915 from a 7pm start. Masks are optional except certain performances when they are mandatory. When getting your ticket be sure to pay attention and plan accordingly.
Parking is limited as it is street parking. There is however a lot that is less than a block away! I’ve parked there but would suggest you get there early as it will fill up quickly. The staff is super helpful so if you need accommodations they will assist you!
SNL Vibes in This is the Week That Is
A little mix of SNL and Who’s line is it anyway this show is guaranteed to catch and keep your attention from start to finish! The production rips a lot of their content from the headlines of what we are all talking about. Mixing in politics in a way that doesn’t shy away from the truth but embraces it. The cast who I’ve seen a lot of them in other productions really showcase their talents in the biggest of ways! I didn’t have any expectations nor did I read any reviews prior to. With pure eyes the cast took me on a whirlwind of fun, holiday, hope, and truth.
The Set is Phenomenal
I absolutely hands down loved the set. Super colorful, vibrant, and modern it was well done. I loved as soon as you walk-in you are drawn to the set. Once the cast comes in the set illuminates with talent. Congrats to everyone who made the staff come alive.
Politics and More in This is the Week That Is
Two words that describe the political conversations: prevalent and loud. There are going to be points in time when something said or done may not be in an alignment with your beliefs. Each political jab is intentional. However each conversation that was had was done in a way that brought laughter or made you think.
Take Aways in This is the Week That Is-come with an open mind! Although it was lighthearted and full of hilarious comedic timing and amazing singing-the deeper meaning matter. Also the crowd gets the opportunity to be involved as well. So no one show is the same. I felt empowered not to only learn about current events that I may have missed this week, but to laugh and have that freeing moment to simply exist without judgement. The production is happening now until December 31, 2022. This is a must see! Add this to your holiday theater listings! Tickets are on sale now!
