Have you ever been to an Infrared Sauna Spa? Do you know the benefits of using infrared sauna spa?  If an infrared sauna spa is not near you, how willing are you willing to try something new? How far are you willing to go to aid in your mental, physical, and spiritual journey?  Infrared spas allow you usually between 30-45 minutes as you sit in the room and sweat. Sweat to some sounds really disgusting but the infrared properties have both physical, mental, and emotional healing. Also do not be afraid to do this either by yourself or with a friend. I personally preferred to do it by myself and here is why.

Before you go to an Infrared Sauna Spa

Research the location before you go. Look for reviews on how others enjoyed their experiences. We always want to keep the money in our own community first. If you wear your hair naturally, plan around it.  However, do not allow that to stop you from the experience.  Also the different colors of the infrared bring on different levels of healing. For example, red is for skin and deeper penetration of the rays. Purple helps with cell renewal. Yellow is for calm and so forth.

Wear or bring loose-fitting clothes. Afterwards even if you are showering or going straight back home, your pores are open as well as it will be hard to put tight fitting clothes on. Drink plenty of water before you go as well as after. Follow the instructions that you are given. Do not be afraid to speak up if something makes you feel uncomfortable. Plan your experience on a day when afterwards you don’t have obligations like work or a meeting to attend.

Physical Benefits of Using Infrared Sauna Spa

One of the best benefits of Infrared Sauna or therapy is that it will help you detox your body naturally. We carry so many toxins in our body. Eliminate them with your sweat. I have done both a sauna spa as well as an infrared bed. The bed allows you to collect the sweat so you can see it with a special bag that covers you from your breast to your feet. If you do not think that would work, then use the traditional sauna room that is private for your use. Both are great. Another physical benefit is it aids in sleep, anti-aging of our skin, and even with your weight loss or healthy body goals.

Spiritual Use of Infrared Sauna Spa

Self-care comes in many forms. Learning how to be still is a great form of self-care. When I did the infrared sauna room, I found out a few things about myself. Allowing myself that 45 minutes alone was hard. As much as I say I crave alone time, it didn’t initially feel good. I highly recommend doing the following while in that room, make an affirmation playlist of songs, listen to a podcast, mediate, or simply sit in the quietness of your own thoughts without distractions. The feeling that I felt after doing it was freeing. It was the first time I could cry in a room without my cries being painful. It was a release of energy, burdens, and more. I had learned to be okay in my skin. Now for many they will wear bathing suits to make them comfortable. I elected to be in the sauna with my towel and my naked body.

 

I had to learn to appreciate my body with all the flaws it possesses. Things like looking over scars to reveal my personal testimony helped me relax, sit in gratitude, and reflect.

Mental Health and the Use of Infrared Sauna Spa

No matter what form of self-care you use, it is important to set that time aside. Reminding yourself to slow down can boost your mood. In the room or the bed, I had to remember that I mattered. My thoughts, feelings, and mood matter. The bed allows you to lay down and at the moments when the bed increased its heat, the uncomfortableness initially felt strange as well as necessary. Simply booking an appointment and keeping it boosted my mood. We talk ourselves out of moments especially when we allow the negative self-talk sit in.

Bring your thoughts and what is on your heart. Let the sweat drip off your body. Allow yourself the ability to simply exist in this space. You won’t look like you did when you first walked in. The experience allows you to emerge feeling purified in more ways than one. If you have ever heard of this treatment and considered it, the time is now. If this is your first time hearing about, do research on areas in your own city and town. Book the appointment once you are ready and experience it at least once. Would I go back? Yes my skin immediately looked better. I got amazing sleep and my muscles were super relaxed which was helpful since I work out.  My next level of infrared will be to go to a spa outside of my area or state that offer spa retreats to take a weekend to myself with the same level of treatments and more.
