Everyone knows what it means when you say “let’s address the elephant in the room.” Whatever you are referring to is apparent but instead of tiptoeing around it; you decide to deal with it. In the Elephant in the Room at Azuka Theatre written and performed by Priyanka Shetty the audience takes a journey of self discovery.
Before you go to see The Elephant in the Room
The location is 302 S. Hicks Street. There is no parking on the actual street . There is how street parking near by including a garage with a few feet of the location. Plan your arrival time to give you time to fine parking. Concessions are back at Azuka so if you’re looking to indulge make sure you arrive in enough time to get them and get comfortable. Tickets are pay as you wish. Consider making a donation to Azuka too. Although tickets are pay as you wish, you still must reserve time to go to the show. This show in my opinion is suitable for ages 14 and up. There is use of profanity.
One woman show: Priyanka Shetty
This show was absolutely captivating. Priyanka showcases an Indian woman who has left her IT job to pursue acting. This career move alone would be more than enough to make her Indian family unhappy. However on top of a new career she has come to the United States in Trump’s America. A mix of wit, straight forward truths, and humor this story takes a life all of its own!
Cultural Heavy as its own Character
Although this is a woman show and Priyanka holds her own there is one character that is on full display. Culture is a heavy theme. Like many immigrants they respond to the things in life through cultural references. So when you see the uneasiness of Priyanka as she discusses her move you feel it. It’s never easy to allow the spirit of change to happen.
This show is happening until November 19th. Get tickets now!
