Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance threw the best and biggest Bear  Affair,  and it was glorious to view. From the time I stepped into the space at the Philadelphia Eagles camp also known as the Lincoln Financial Field, I knew it was going to be a momentous event.  So, what happened, what was the purpose, and what is the takeaway?

The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance is there to support children who have had the unthinkable happen. If you missed the blog on this, be sure to go back and read it. They are there not only to support the child but the entire family. Every family will get a teddy bear during the process. The teddy bear represents something soft, cuddly, and safe to the child and their siblings. I was taken back by the tour. The emotions that took place made me uncomfortable and at peace at the same time. For one knowing that children are endearing this type  of  situations is heartbreaking.  However,  knowing that they don’t have to suffer alone is also a comfort.

Tour the Lincoln Financial Field and The Eagles Locker Room

Although this wasn’t the first time, I had taken the tour it’salways good to be in the same place that the Eagles play and get ready to make the magic happen. The only thing we didn’t or couldn’t see was the actual field. Tomorrow there will the Monster Jam. So, the field is getting tore up to get ready for allthe fans. I will be one of them. Either way the tour was great. During the tour we also got a chance to hear from Jordan Mailata. He was amazing. We learned about how he prepares for the game, what he eats, and how he got started. If you do not know he is from Australia. So, it was good to hear why he came so far away to make roots in Philadelphia.

The Bear Affair Room

There so much to do in this space. We checked in, took pictures, and then made our way into the room. In the room there was plenty of food. From light bites to full spread of food-if you left hungry that was intentional. I loved the employee recognition that they had before the full-on affair. This was the time to recognize the employees of Philadelphia Children’s Alliance who go beyond the call for children. Those honored was Christina Donnian. She celebrated 20 years with the Department of Human Services. Next was Tito Valdez who is an Assistant District Attorney and has dedicated his time to making sure that those who violate would make sure they are fully prosecuted.

Bear Affair Food and More

We enjoyed so many options. I really loved the buffet options of sliders and pasta. This also went with the passed around food, and some small bites that were ready for everyone to pick up and enjoy. There was plenty of wine and beer and their signature drink, The Tangerine Bear. The Tangerine Bear was my favorite. In addition, the official Philadelphia Eagles sponsor is Dunkin Donuts, and they had their Summer Sips the Kiwi Watermelon Lemonade. I rarely get drinks outside of their coffee, but this is a game changer. Take my word and enjoy it. It is a little sweeter but if you don’t like it get it with green tea.

Swoop and Entertainment

From the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders, DJ, Swoop, and the Eagle’s Drumline we really had a time. I finally met Swoop. All the times I had been in Philadelphia and attended the games this was the first time I met him. I really enjoyed him and the moment. There was nothing but smiles from everyone all around.

I enjoyed my time. If you have never attended, you should consider getting tickets for next year. It keeps getting bigger and better. I plan to work with the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance for as long as possible. You can still donate. Thank you to the entire team. I pray that all children who unfortunately are met with the worst scenario of their life would be met with this team who is ready to take care of your needs and always at no cost to the family. If you ever need to report abuse, please use the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-932-0313.
