Happy Sunday. On Sundays a lot of people push self care. Sundays growing up for church. We got early and we were in church all day long from 9am-9pm with one break. As a grown up we do attend church but we also keep the Sunday vibes about relaxing. Sundays are for what you make it but it needs to be a day to recharge.
Sunday Recharging
There are several ways to recharge. It doesn’t mean that you have to be sleeping or in bed. However that is a great way to recharge with sleep. You can also have a Sunday funday as a way to recharge. With it being the Fall going to a Fall fest, halloween party, or even to pumpkin or apple picking at Linvilla is a great recharge activity. Some families get together with extended family members to enjoy a meal. Others may be all about Sunday Football. You get to make the rules of what you need for recharging. As a wife I had to learn quickly that my recharge isn’t my husband’s recharge so let’s have that conversation.
Let your Spouse Relax Too
There are times that as a family we do things together. My husband isn’t the outdoor, walk around, pumpkin patching type. However he will do them. We talk about it before we schedule it but it gets done. So with that in mind, relationships are give and take. You may find solace in running around etc. However if your spouse doesn’t communicate so that his needs are met. I find the term happy wife, happy life lacks the other side of the conversation. There are wives who are unhappy in general. They will spend a person into debt trying to “make them happy.” Your spouse can’t make you happy. So find happiness on the inside. Once you do, you as a spouse would want you other half to be happy and fulfilled too.
So balance the need for us all the time and allot time for your spouse to be okay too. Husbands same thing for you. Your spouse isn’t the clean up man/woman. Let them some down time. Step up and cook or bring a meal into the home on a Sunday allowing them to not have to worry about it for once.
Sunday Reset
We all deserving of rest and a reset. The ability to catch your breath. Our Sundays start with my son doing basketball games and more. So I usually start with the girls to do some cleaning and cooking and relax. Today no laundry is getting washed. I have an event later so I want to do things like read a book while listening to soft music. My husband will be watching the game. I will encourage the kids to find activities that they want today. My oldest is into art she may paint. My youngest like to play with her doll house while my son connects with his friends. The bottom line is that everyone has the opportunity to reset in their own ways.
If you are struggling with ways to rest or reset here are a few ideas:
- Enjoy a cup of your favorite drink
- Wake up later
- Get up early to catch the sunrise
- Make your favorite meal
- Get a new lipstick color
- Do some art-you don’t have to be good at it
- Start a journal prompt
- Celebrate you wins-write 5 things that you have done this week
- Use a diffuser and enjoy some moments of quiet
- Water your plants
- Get in comfortable clothes and read a book
- Step away from the larger coffee shops and go to a smaller/local one
- Enjoy being a home barista-I just got a new keurig to make lattes and cappuccinos
- Brunch with loved ones
This is such a small listing. That means use your imagination and let your reset and relaxation happen naturally. What are you naturally gravitate to. I hope that your Sunday is off to a good start. If you started and it seems to be off setting-reset. Reshape your expectations. Find your joy and make Sunday amazing just as you are.
