Happy Sunday. Hopefully this Sunday you are starting your day on the best footing. Today I want you to start your day which is also the start of your week with a renewed sense of peace. The kind of peace that isn’t dependent if things are going well or not.
Sunday Refresh
Just like you should be refreshing your clothes by washing them have you considered a mental bath. A mental bath I like to describe it as taking the time to do a mind dump of all the things that we carry in our heart and mind. The stress of the week that has caused us to think less of themselves. I do mind dumps quite often. Sundays is always a good way to renew and recharge. For instance, depending on my schedule, we start the Sundays off with a good breakfast and gospel music. I play, dance, and just have a good time. In addition to the normal reset like laundry and more, I love taking the time to move slower. This means enjoying my coffee, watching a little television, journalling and more.
Feeding your Soul-Sunday Stir
Not everyone attends church or believes in God or a higher power. How do you feed your soul? Some people feed their soul by connecting with nature. Taking a walk, going for a jog, having a picnic outdoors while listening to a sermon or even a podcast. For me feeding my soul start with taking a break. To simply enjoy down time is the start of feeding my soul. When was the last time you spend time with just you? Even if you have a busy schedule like myself, you still need me time. I had to explain to someone that going out on events is not me time. Do I enjoy them? Yes. Is it my time? No. I spend more time working an event and doing content then simply being there to be there.
Me time is your sacred space to simply enjoy the things you love. For instance, if you love to paint but noticed that you don’t have as much time as you used to, consider feeding your soul by painting. You like puzzles? Do one. Take the time to enjoy the activities that make your soul leap. For instance, I am behind in my summer reading so I will be setting time aside to do just that.
Personal Mindset
Before going to therapy I found that I was unbearable to be around. I deflected and blamed everyone else. It was everyone else’s fault I was negative. If other people simply didn’t like me,I would say things like, “that’s their problem.” Oh, the growth that I have in my life. It’s not everyone telling the same lie that you are unlikable. You may be coming off as miserable person. Acknowledge that it’s more than you simply not being everyone’s cup of tea. You might not be aware that you are honestly rubbing multiple sets of people the wrong way. Here’s a challenge, move, go somewhere else and if you are not presenting yourself friendly and not able to make friends invest in some soul searching.
This is what lead to my transformation. I didn’t like the messaging that I was being told. Instead of focusing on the vessel it came from I focused on the messaging. This was the best advice my therapist gave me.
As we continue into our Sunday do not be afraid to make time for yourself. I know its hard. We all have busy lives, families, friends that we want to be around and more. Do not allow life to get in the way to the point where you simply make yourself last. Even on the plane when we traveled to Disney, they reminded us to put the mask on our own faces first before assisting others. Apply that logic to you and your self-care always. Enjoy your Sunday.
