Cookouts and Barbeque

If you love a good barbeque trust me the time is now. From burgers, ribs, chicken, veggies and more. Cookouts are something special. In Philadelphia they are something that is commonplace including block parties.  It’s nothing to drive in Philadelphia and see a random block closed off without warning. In addition enjoying good barbeque food while you are at various restaurants is also good too. If you are looking for great barbeque that is worth the money here are a few of my suggestions:

  • Mike’s BBQ
  • Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse BBQ
  • Urban Farmer’s
  • Frankford Hall
  • McGillin’s Olde Ale House

Alternatives for those who are vegan or vegetarians:

  • Charlie was a Sinner
  • Vegan-ish
  • Hip City Veg

For more vegan Inspired recipes make sure you check out Vegan Heaven. They are one of my go tos in addition make sure you grab a few options from the Tabitha Brown collection to.

Ice-cream and More

I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice-cream. This cold and delicious treat is good for all. Ice-cream has come a long way. From now having Lactose intolerant kind, non dairy, and more there is no reason not to enjoy. Here are my personal top spots for ice-cream for non vegans:

  • Franklin Fountain (also has some of the best vegan options too)
  • C & C Creamery -our family favorite
  • Bassetts Ice-cream
  • Van Leeuwen
  • Scoop Deville (has vegan options and vegan toppings too)
  • Jeni’s Splendid (vegan friendly)

In Philadelphia water ice said Wooderice like my good friend’s business-check it out is a staple. You have to understand that outside of the larger spots like Rita’s are mom and pop shops or deli’s on many corners that sell it. So if you are looking for some good water ice here are my recommendations:

  • John’s Water ice (just had some at a philly food tour)
  • Fred’s Water ice
  • Pop’s Homemade Water ice
  • Dre’s Water ice
  • Philadelphia Water Ice Factory
  • Vera’s Water Ice
