Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Stomp NYC is a classic that you must see. From the movement to the use of everyday items the collaboration between the two is uncanny. Happening at Ensemble Arts Philly from now until Sunday December 29th. It is family friendly too. This is not a sit and watch. You will be involved, and I loved it.

Before you go to see Stomp NYC

This show is about an hour and 45 minutes with no intermission. I would highly suggest that due to this that you get there early. The line for security was a little longer than normal. I am not sure why. There is plenty of concessions. Also follow the flow of traffic. The kiosk is now self-serve, and you may need to pack a little patience. I anticipate that once people get used to them it will get a little better. For ticket purchasing the closer the better.  However, no seat is a bad seat unless you’re at home. There is no photography or videography. At the end if you are patient there will be some time to do so.

I went with my Broadway besties, my bestie, my daughter, and her friend. We had a wonderful time. From the youngest in our group at about 5/6 to the oldest we all left full of energy and hype.

Pro tips: if you have sensitive ears due to the drumming, stomping, and more I suggest having headphones or Loops. You know I always keep a pair of Loops on me. There is also the use of lights. So, plan accordingly.

Is Stomp NYC worth it?

The show is so entertaining and mesmerizing. It is worth it. I highly recommend. I would suggest the ages eight and up. I noticed that the 5/6 year we old loved the show but the timing being an hour and 45 minutes may be hard for a few younger  audiences. Luckily, his mom knew that and had plenty of snacks ready. If your child or you need it this would be the show to have a fidget toy on hand.  Again, this is from a self-care and mental wellness advocate.

The movement

I have never seen so many beautiful people move the way that they do. The way that they use so much energy in every part of the movement. Also, there isn’t much speaking, but the communication is strong. It’s humorous, light, and just what we need as we spend the days after Christmas hopefully doing nothing but gathering with loved ones. The way that you will look at household appliances and cleaning products will make you laugh. Also, there is one part of the show that could be seen as suggestive. The 5/6-year-old in our group caught one but not in a sexual way but it could be a little off beat to some.

The Clay Studio X Stomp NYC

I did an activation before seeing the show this past weekend. It was at the Clay Studio in Northern Liberties. I had a blast. Learning new ways to use clay and throwing was one of the best things this year. Side note, I had learning clay on my vision board. I was a little bummed out because I hadn’t paid close attention to it until maybe a few days before I was invited. It made me feel good knowing that I was being seen in that moment to complete things off my to do list.

Not only did we have a good time if you have never thrown clay which means to work with it, I highly suggest you do so. It was very relaxing activity to do.

The arts are always a wonderful thing to support. Tickets are still available. Get them and let me know what you think. The show is dynamic, powerful, strong, full of energy, humorous, and engaging. Don’t miss the opportunity. Thank you to Ensemble Arts Philly for having me. A special thank you to The Clay Studio for having me for the clay project and I can’t wait to pick up my pieces.
