Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Spring has Sprung. Whether you have kids on Spring Break, looking to get out and about, or just nosey and want to see the list I have come up with, here’s some activities to consider. Remember that activities are always changing so pay attention to the various sites for up to the minute updates.

Big Kahuna’s Indoor Waterpark

If you love swimming but don’t like the idea of one the weather not being warm enough outside or hate having to make plans surrounding the weather, then Big Kahunas is for you. It’s an indoor swimming, lazy river, and activities facility. This place is fun for the whole family. We have gone several times during the year. They are offering tickets for Spring Break for $29.99. If you need more reference check out the blogpost from our most recent time. Parents I highly recommend it. I have a system in place to watch the kids which means that we all travel to all of the explorations together even when I travel alone. If my husband comes we divide and conquer.

Big Kahuna’s is located in West Berlin, New Jersey which is about 40 minutes from Philadelphia.

Sesame Place: Activities for the Whole Family

For those who  love exploring and having fun with the Sesame Street characters-this is your place. From the infamous character parade to dining with Elmo kids of all ages will love it. In the Summer it is  one of the best outdoor waterparks that there is. Located in Langhorne Pennsylvania it is about 30 minutes from Philadelphia. They have seasonal excursions to enjoy and are certified Autism center. I like it because it allows me and the kids to find fun and enjoy the characters like we have never been before. They will have open hours during Easter week including some extra things to do. Get your tickets for Sesame Place.

Philadelphia Zoo: Staying Power

From big dinos and larger than life insects this newest exhibition will be super fun. Take the family on a day to explore in the zoo. Not only are they seeing the zoo animals but tire them out as they take in the large exhibits. Tickets are needed for the zoo and the exhibit separately. This exhibit opens on April 1, 2023. It will feature 25 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs and super-sized animatronic insects that will help visitors discover the physical traits, behaviors and special skills that allowed insects to survive long after the dinosaurs went extinct. Visitors will take a journey back through the ages from modern times back to 100 million years ago, as Staying Power unveils the adaptations needed to survive on the earth, and how we have the power to make changes to save the planet—and ourselves.

Ensemble Philly Arts: Theatre Activities

There are many shows happening all Spring long. Ensemble Philly Arts has you covered from jazz to productions. Make sure to check the Ensemble’s website for a full line up. I want to highlight a few of them.

Adventure Aquarium

We had a blast during the Christmas time at the Adventure Aquarium. Now you can go and have great indoor fun. There is something about seeing these beautiful animals. You don’t need kids to enjoy. There is a lot to touch and do. Go on a day date, take a solo stroll, Adventure Aquarium is for everyone. In addition, Last month, Adventure Aquarium announced that little blue penguin parents Sheila (#8) and Spud (#3) welcomed a healthy baby boy. The pair had yet to land on the perfect name for the baby blue. It took some time, but Sheila and Spud finally landed on their little one’s official moniker, which is…drum roll, pleaseTATER TOT!

Parents Maremma (#11) and Bloke (#4) welcomed their own healthy male hatchling, born on February 25,  just 10 days after Tater Tot. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, it’s become an entire family affair because Tater Tot and the new chick are cousins! Get your tickets now.

Like his sister Sheila, Bloke and breeding partner Maremma are having a tough time naming their bundle of blue-feathered joy. But this time, the birds are leaving it up to YOU!

Now through today, Thursday, March 30 at noon ET, penguin lovers can vote HERE for their favorite name from the following list:

  • Taz
  • Irwin
  • Heath
  • Ralph

As you can see there is plenty to do. I will come back with more before the end of the week. I can’t be the only parent preparing for Spring/Easter Break. We not letting these kids hit us with the phrase all parents dread…”I’m bored!” There are plenty of activities to do. Enjoy!
