I’ve been in my home since COVID-19 hit. I stayed at one other hotel as a staycation however it had nothing on Sonesta Philadelphia. They went to extreme measures to ensure our safety. From check-in to check out we were well accommodated and safe!!
Reset and Release
The reason for the hotel stay was so my husband and I could get away without going away. I wanted to celebrate him but not do anything too drastic so we could continue to stay without bubble of safety. I spoke to Sonesta’s team on how to make that happen. The rest that my husband and I was able to have was out of this world!
Birthday Behavior
When it’s your 40th it should be celebrated to its highest realm. I know had COVID-19 not been an issue my husband would have most likely been out of the country! We aren’t comfortable with traveling at all. We aren’t taking flights or traveling from state to state. So I had to make sure that even our staycation was treated with the highest regards while also making him feel celebrated and honored.
Rewind Time
I think it’s important for every couple to be able to rewind! It’s important that everyone have that down time. As much as my husband and I connect while now working and living together under the same roof, we don’t always get the time to truly unwind. This trip was special. It was quiet. We had the most amazing time having true adult time. We had the BEST conversations we have ever had in our marriage. That says a lot since we talk heavily about heavy topics all the time. Sonesta provided the peaceful oasis. Trust me a change of environment is always good.

Sonesta Philadelphia on COVID–19 Protocols
There was no Art Bar. They don’t allow for the dining experience or bar. The only thing is you can have access to the coffee bar in the morning from 6-10:30am. That was fine with us as we made reservations at Chima. You can however make reservations for Ruth Chris’ Steakhouse that is connected to the hotel. Every room is cleaned and has a seal on the door that let’s know not one has entered. The remotes which we didn’t use is covered in plastic. You can see the cleanliness in each room. Trust me I checked by pulling sheets etc. as I always do when I go to a hotel. Of course hand sanitizer stations all around and masks are enforced throughout your stay. Several floors are not available either for safety reasons!
So I felt safe. The hotel is clean. The staff follows ALL protocols. I have to stress that because I’ve been at some places that stated they followed the protocols and didn’t. Sonesta was serious. Even when we checked in and there were a crowd forming, staff quickly made sure that everyone was socially distanced. Everyone was checked in and off to their rooms. Also the guests themselves made sure they didn’t congregate in the elevators either. Everyone did what was necessary to enjoy their stay and go home safe. I didn’t see one person without their masks on properly either!
