Selfish Philly was a successful event once again. Does it being much bigger make it better? What are your tips for next year to aid in a true self care revolution? It is no secret that the self-proclaimed Self-care Queen would be in attendance for 2023 Selfish Philly Conference.
The Evolution of Selfish Philly
Danielle Massi has done taking this conception of self-care and gifting it to the city of Philadelphia. This is my 3rd or 4th Selfish Philly conference that I have attended. What makes this stand out is the way in which the vendors, speakers, and location has come together to provide an oasis of self-care opportunities. For instance, Selfish Philly was held at the W Hotel in Philadelphia. Instead of just one wing it was given two floors to allow the patrons to have space for what they needed. When you go to various conference it’s you are forced to participate in a small selection of events. The VIP allowed you a lounge to take as many breaks as needed.
This is great for conference goers like me who know that taking as many breaks as possible is key to being able to take things away and applying it to your own personal world.
Pros of Self Care
One of the pros is that we were able to have the space to roam freely. The multiple floors made it easy to maximize your experience. I could see some that could see this as a hindrance. However, the flow of the conference didn’t mean you had to walk up and down the steps. The main floor had all that you needed that even if you didn’t have the VIP ticket you would be fine.
The vendors having their own space for you to go to was great. This made them visible but also tucked away. I liked that they weren’t in your face with buying items you may not want to take home. Freely giving every patron the liberty to make the decisions that made sense to them.
The food was so good. It was buffet style brunch. The food was hot and delicious, and I loved how hands on the staff at the W was making sure they cleaned up but also out of the way so you can enjoy the conference. As time went on having access to coffees, water, and teas to help you stay hydrated throughout.
Cons of Selfish Philly
This isn’t really a con for them but more of a personal con. Get to the conference early especially if you have a VIP ticket. By the time I had gotten there all the services that I wanted to obtain were already taken. So, I did enjoy the chiropractor experience with Dr. Victory. Honestly, that has helped me feel amazing even days later. So do not do what I do and get there after the start of the conference. However, all the vendors that were offering services did gift me goodies even without experiencing the services.
Personal Take Aways
The speakers that were there were dynamic. I took away making sure that I renewed the sense of taking time to manifest the life that I want. In addition to manifestation not to forget to be active in the journey instead of allowing life to happen to me. I needed to hear that. Think of the times you have been an active participant in your life. Did it work out better for you? It did for me. I enjoyed being relaxed in relaxed clothing and taking care of my mind while enjoying some time with one of my girlfriends, Brenda. We were able to be present together but also, we both took time apart to find the things that we needed. So, it is possible to go with friends and pay attention to your own date.
Here are my Pro Tips for Selfish Philly:
- Arrive early
- Sign up for services
- Get the VIP ticket
- Bring a squad
- Go to the services you want to go to
- Utilize the lounge and take a break
- Dress comfortable and wear comfortable shoes
Thank you to Danielle Massi the curator of Selfish Philly. In addition, a special thank you to Philly PR Girl, the vendors and all who made Selfish Philly wonderful. If this is how this year went, next year will even better. So be selfish in your pursuits and more. Being selfish is okay especially if you are taking care of me.
