Self-care is important. It is the way that you renew and reset. So now that self-care has taken off it has become its own money maker. From candles to massages it seems that if you can think of it, there’s a cost to it. What happens when you are on a tight budget and selfcare seems to not fit. There is a way to treat yourself and do it on a budget friendly way.
Self-Care at Home
You will be surprised of the things you have in your own home that can inspire taking time for yourself. For one, it’s going to help if you clean out a few areas like closets and drawers and get rid of things that you do not need. Secondly clear and clean out all the beauty products that are expired or you no longer are using. If the products are in good condition as well as something that can be regifted to someone do that. If not get rid of it. Sometimes you may find that you have eye masks, luxury lotions, amazing perfumes, and other things laying around not used. Be committed in the future to buy what you need.
Once you have cleared out and cleaned out-set some time and stick to it. Sleep is essential. What are the things that you need to help you sleep well. For me its fuzzy socks, warm pjs depending on the season, using a little lavender spray on my pillow to keep me in my sleep longer. Also, the use of eye masks for sleeping helps too. These items you can get from Five Below or even the Dollar Store.
On The Go Mindfulness
I talked about selfcare on the go a few weeks ago but its true. How you pack and move in your day matters. For instance, I am intentional on what I pack for when I will not be home. From snacks, water bottle, and even always keeping journals or crossword books on me. Most of these items can be purchased for minimal amount of money. When I was pregnant with my second child and had a continually active toddler, I would complain about not having things. The reality is that I had it, but I wasn’t as content. So, I learned how to think about what I needed in my day to aid in better moods and more.
Massages, Hair, and More
Selfcare goes beyond nail care. I do love getting my nails down and saying yes to myself. However, what happens when you don’t have the money or don’t want to waste the money. You do press on. The press on game has changed from a few years ago. Use them if that is your preference. Massages can be expensive. Find a school that is a teaching school. There prices are usually a little lower. Also do not discount getting massages on a quarterly basis vs monthly. This saves you money as well. When I couldn’t get my hair done, I learned how to do it on my own. From using platforms like YouTube and more I mastered my hair’s texture and styles.
Be Creative
Think outside of the box without spending an exuberant amount of money. I have seen people attempting to copy things they see online that look like the soft life. I love that people are learning what luxury means to them. For instance, it’s not just in brands. Sometimes it’s in the time saving like meal prep companies that have meals fully ready. Or having someone braid your hair at your house. These things take time to accumulate. Aspirational as they look, do not allow it to over consume you. There’s no selfcare that doesn’t have a budget friendly option. Take the time to look. Enjoy your time. Say yes to yourself and so much more.
Don’t let self-care become bigger than it is. Take time to simply sit quietly. When was the last time you simply did that? If you do not know-start, there. Quietness is free and the gift that keeps on giving.
