Japan’s winters tend to be windy and cooler. The temperature doesn’t usually fluctuate from day to night. So be prepared with a few essentials.

Self Care Products needed while in Japan

Since the winter tends to be cooler you are going to want to make sure you are layered appropriately. One key item you will need is a good puffer jacket. You will see many of those while in Japan. Also since you need to layer do not forget to have some heattech as they call it in Japan. Heatech is what we would call thermal undergarments. The key component of heattech is that it is designed to protect your skin from the cold.

After you have on our heattech the next layer you will need is a fleece or sweater. Followed by the puffer jacket or rain coat depending on the weather. Here are a few other self care items I would suggest that you have while in Japan:

  • Wam Long socks
  • Ski Pants
  • Ski boots
  • Warm hat
  • Scarf
  • Ski mask for on the slope to protect your face
  • Glove that are rain proof
  • Glove liners if your hands are extra sensitive

Getting around in Japan

One of the main components of traveling while in Japan is the trains. Unlike American trains which fluctuates in timing, in Japan they are known to be on the dot. That means missing a train could set you back an hour. Getting to the trains on time is key. Make sure you leave yourself ample time to get to the train station. You want to be get there to use it not stress about it. If the train which is highly recommended that you use is not something you want to do then renting a car would be your next best option.

What’s in the day bag while in Japan?

I gave you many suggestions on the layering for a winter in Japan but you certainly will need a few other key items during your travel. There is a lot to explore and see so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. What is in your day bag that you will need?

  • Scarf
