I am also going to share a few places I love to plant shop, gadgets to help all plant parents, and so much more. If you are also a coffee shop enthusiast, I am going to share my top 5 spots for coffee in or near the city. So enjoy the Zen that I hope you feel in this blogpost.
Plant Parents Unite
There is something about plants that make me feel so good. They bring about an energy as well as aesthetics that can’t be described. However, so many are not green thumbs. That is okay. There are still some plants that you can get that are low key.
Companies are hip to nongreen thumbs making some plants come with self-watering options so all you have to do is enjoy. Why do plants make people smile? Some believe that plants help us to be able to connect with nature. We really were meant to be in nature. Although it’s not everyone’s thing, for those who it is for, it is an immediate mindfulness booster. In addition, caring for something else is what others love as well. Are you a plant parent? I am and this weekend I went to a new coffee shop that you can purchase plants from.
The Essentials
There are a few essentials that you will need to enjoy your plant parenthood. Then there are some items that we don’t necessarily need but we simply love. The items you need to be a good plant parent:
• Planter
• Water meter
• Plant magnifying glass
• Nutrition
• Shearers
• Measuring Cup
• Soil
A few things that you don’t necessarily need but make for amazing things to have
• Self-watering pot
• New planters
• Gardening mat
• Plant Support stakes
• Plant stands
• Pest Control Device
Plant Issues or Plants that Die
This is inevitable that you would go through life and not have at least one die. Take it in strides. Do not allow yourself to think you aren’t cut out for this. However, it could be a sign that you may need more education for the plant that best fits your lifestyle. Some people choose the plants that look the biggest or the most aesthetic. However, you should pick the one that makes sense for what you can handle. If you travel all the time and are barely home, you need one that is self-watering or one that doesn’t require a lot of attention.
Also, if you are serious about being a plant parent go to smaller shops that have people that can offer you the education to help your plant baby thrive. These are the ones that aren’t looking to simply sell you anything. They really want to see the plants that they nurture go to deserving homes. Also don’t discount the lighting in your home or space. So many people do not take that into consideration when selecting plants.
Plant Parents and Coffee Shops
I went to a new coffee shop here in Philadelphia called The Ground: Coffee, Plants, and Gifts in Rittenhouse. The vibes were unmatched. Here’s the thing that people who don’t necessarily drink coffee need to understand. At coffee shops there are usually a plethora of drinks to enjoy. Don’t discount matcha, lemonades, teas and more. Coffee shops provide the aesthetic of relaxed undertones. I go there for that the most. At The Ground I enjoyed being surrounded from ceiling to the floor full of plants.
Here are my top 5 spots for coffee shops here in Philadelphia:
We all love a good Starbucks for those still drinking it. However, consider spending your money at your local coffee shops. They can have some of the best coffee that you have ever tasted. When selecting coffee shops know what matters the most. For me, I tend to go by the coffee, aesthetics, and if it is conducive to getting work done. Its rare that I am inside of a coffee shop without my laptop. Even last year for Mother’s Day I took my laptop with me.
• Black Turtle Coffee
• OCF Coffee House
• Almost Home General
• The Ground
• Matines Café in Chestnut Hill
These coffee shops are different. For instance, Matines Café gives me French vibes. I go there alone so that I can enjoy an elevated pastry experience. OCF Coffee House I am there at least 2 times a month. They have convenient locations, great coffee, and a rewards program. Almost Home General may sneak into my number one spot.
What do you look for when you go to a coffee shop?
The natural lighting, great tasting food, and good customer service is what I love the most. The Ground allows you the convenience to buy plant and plant accessories while enjoying your coffee. It isn’t too suited for working but is a great place to read. Black Turtle Coffee is delicious, has working space, and you can read. I love that its in Center City and I can get in and back home if I need to.
Well to my plant parents I hope this helps. I just got the girls their own succulents to take care of. We will see how they do. So far, I had them research the care that is needful for their plant. They have named them too. I will update in a month on how they are doing and see if they want their plants photographed.
