So we are inside staying safe and getting tired of cooking these three meals a day and washing dishes or at least that’s my life. The way my family is set up they are eating good but at my expense. In the spirit of taking a break it’s best to go for the best and in Philadelphia, Hunnies is your go to!
Hunnies opened last week and with the other businesses that have opened during the pandemic support and love is always needed. Luckily Hunnies has an amazing recipe that’s going to keep them as a staple. Glu Hospitality announces the opening last week and if you were following me you saw the announcement on my Facebook page.
Chicken tenders: look at how big that is and it’s not blown up shot either
Owners of Leda and the Swan, Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu had to pivot during this time and what better way than with amazing tasting chicken. Oh and in case you are wondering it’s more than just another chicken sandwich. Do you remember my time at Leda and the Swan. Click here to go back and see the amazing fun that was had there.

I said it then and I will say it again Leda and the Swan has hands down the best drinks for your money in price, and taste. So when I heard the same owners were coming through with this a chicken business I knew that meant the quality would be all that I could ask for. As soon as they get cleared to be able to provide these amazing drinks as a take out option you will be able to get your hands on them yourself. Stay on the look out!
So here’s an amazing shot of the buffalo chicken sandwich:
Affordability
So you know how I roll when I think about ordering food when I look at my own grocery store bills is affordability. Hunnies Chicken is affordable. The food is between $3.50 and $10.99 and yes I would say that’s affordable. Also Hunnies is available for delivery using Grubhub and Door Dash. You can also elect for contactless pick up. You can enjoy it the way you want! For contactless pick up you can pick up at the Glu Hospitality Kitchen at 223 South Sydenham Street.
Taste
So now that you know you can afford the chicken goodness that is Hunnies, the question is it worth it for the taste? Yes it is! The crunch is undeniable. For one it holds it own.
This was the pure joy I had when I thought I could eat peacefully
Crunchy and full of taste this get my full stamp of approval and before you take it there, they have fried tofu, grilled chicken, and crispy cauliflower bites so now you can feed everyone with different palettes.
Kids tested
I gave my kids some but not before this shot of what’s it really like to eat with kids around:
As soon as I gave it to them pure quiet! Everyone knows kids talk but when good food is introduced I literally slipped into quietness of enjoyment. I knew at that moment that this night in was blessed.
Hunnies is affordable, tasty, has options and can be enjoyed from the comforts of your own couch, what’s not to love? You have to try it for yourself? Grab you a few orders if you want I sure won’t judge. Here’s a sneak peak at the menu!
I already know the next thing I want to try is the chicken (tofu) and waffles! I mean why not?!
So take your night in on some amazing comfort food and enjoy! It’s worth it!
This is perfect for a date night in, self-care because who wants to cook, great for parents who are tired of dishes and hot stoves, singles who just want to eat and enjoy their food in peace, or anyone else in between!
Thanks to Hunnies Chicken, Leda and the Swan, Glu Hospitality, and Aversa PR!
