Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

The Philadelphia Flower Show is back and it’s better than ever. It’s put on by the Philadelphia Horticulture Society and is a must go yearly event. The beauty of the arrangements and more can be found there. So what’s new and what’s some pro tips to know before you go?

Flower Show Water Policy

Last year you weren’t allowed to bring in the water bottles. This meant that the only water available was the one you purchased. It was the type of sweltering heat that was breathtaking. This year, not only can you bring in your water bottle; there are refill stations. Super convenient to be able to stay hydrated. Special thanks to The Philadelphia Flower Show for providing me and my guest one in our goodie bag.

Check In Process

The check in has been improved. There’s better organization. Still pack your patience. When I went Friday it was the media and member preview. The crowd was plentiful but definitely smaller than I would expect for normal entry. Print your tickets if you can or have them up on your phone. It will make the process more streamlined.

Kids Cocoon Flower Show

This is the space that kids want to be in. From the lemon smelling misting system, food, and Butterfly release tent. I never thought I had issues with butterflies until I went into the Butterfly tent. Tickets are $5. You get a Q-tip dipped in sugar water. The butterflies love it. Since they eat with their feet, you are going to want to let them get on the Q-tip and they will stay with you. It was a lot of fun!

There is a place to learn about growing plants. The parents can use the phone charging station while the kids play. One of the best things that The Philadelphia Flower Show has done was increased plenty of seating throughout the entire show including places to cool off with shaded seating.

Food at The Philadelphia Flower Show

There are so many amazing places to eat. From the food court which has so many options to a new elevated restaurant called The Lakes. It’s an outside restaurant that you can enjoy great food as well as amazing drinks. The Philadelphia Flower Show stepped up options for Vegan and Vegetarians. Last year the lack of options for me I have to be honest made me a little worried. This year I had the best Black Bean burger. There were other options including a vegan hot dog.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Bring your water bottle
  • Rent scooters or strollers before you go so they don’t run out
  • Purchase your parking pass before you arrive there’s no cash taken for parking (Cost $26); shuttle or walk over to the Flower show after parking
  • Cash is accepted but card is best for payment
  • Consider wearing a sun hat
  • Don’t forget your sunglasses
  • Wear plenty of sunscreen and bring in extra too
  • Pace your drinking of alcohol with heat could be dangerous
  • Bring a back up phone charger in case you don’t want to use the ones provided
  • Take many breaks while out and about-there are so many shaded areas, covered areas and more

Flower Show Installations

Every year there are plenty of displays of flower artistry. Take it in. There are plenty of photo opportunities. Be courteous of those who also want to do the same. As you enter the weekend timing it could get more crowded. If you’re able to attend the show during the week and get there early.

You can enjoy the Flower Show at your own pace. Keep in mind, there are tours that you can also sign up for. One of the favorites is the early morning photography tours. If you are a budding or established photographer this is your chance with limited people to experience the show. Don’t forget to get to Artisan Row where you can curate your own fun like flower headbands and more.
