Derby at the Vineyard is a collaboration with Pennswoods Winery and Paradox Country Farms. A weekend of Derby fun, wine, bites, and shopping. Come dressed up in your favorite Derby attire or keep it casual it’s all your choice.
What to Expect at Pennswoods
VIP tickets are sold out for today. The only tickets available is General Admission. With that being said, parking is going to be for General Admission. You will check in, get a 21 and older wrist band and glass. This is your keepsake to take home as well as your glass to get drinks. There is a tent for mimosas and wine set up close to the check in. General seating will allow you to see the races.
If someone in your party has premier seating and you have general seating you will not be allowed to simply sit in premier seating with them. Premier seaters can sit with you in general seating. Also in addition to food trucks there are vendors selling all kinds of goods.
What to drink at Pennswoods
At check in the tent with wine and mimosas will be very apparent. For $20 you can get all you can drink until noon. This is a great deal. If mimosas aren’t your thing you can opt for wine by the glass or bottle. I highly suggest a bottle. The wine by the glass is reasonably priced. However I think you can get more for your money by paying for a bottle. There is a wine hut to purchase more wine, mimosas, and snacks like make your own charcuterie board and more. In addition there are several food trucks. Please plan accordingly with card if you can.
Horse Racing
No spectator will be allowed in the area where the horses are. I and my guest Elle of Siponwhat were permitted to get content. Please do not pass the section to see the horses up front. You will be able to see the races according to your ticket purchases. It really is a great way to see the activity and sports of the races. Today will start off with the professional racers as they go from high jumping to lower jumping. I’m told in past years more people tend to come more afternoon. If you’re looking for a smaller crowd come in the opening hours of 10am.
Our VIP Experience
If you got the VIP experience you are going to love it. From mimosas refills, premium parking and seating this is the way to go. Plan for next year to get the VIP tickets because it’s definitely worth it. We also had Sponsored Seating which provided bites and they were absolutely amazing. Such a beautiful charcuterie board was supplied by Talluto’s Pasta. They kept it will refilled. The seating was also more exclusive and standard vineyard glass will be provided as a keepsake.
Every need we could think of they made sure they helped us in every way. All staff no matter what ticket you get is helpful. It was a completely peaceful day. The second you step on the property everyone was making it a pleasant experience for all.
What to Bring/Wear and More
The weather was a little brisk too so I would highly suggest having a coat or bring a picnic blanket too. I had a cute Derby dress with flat shoes. I had my heels in the car but you are walking on grass. Make sure whatever shoes you are wearing is reflective of that. It did rain overnight so the ground today may be a little wet. Plan accordingly. Men had some amazing suits on too. Looking for a hat or fastener but don’t have one of your own? There is a vendor that is selling them. I personally got mine off of Amazon. I have several since I attend various Derby, or tea events.
Not a Wine Drinker?
No problem. There are non alcoholic drinks to drink. Some local beers are available as well. Ice cream is available for purchase too.
Overall Penns
Pennswoods Winery definitely have event planning as their number one feature. It was a peaceful and fun event. Definitely worth going to and not missing. Wine, cheese, food trucks, and horses are all a great way to spend Sunday Funday. The event is from 10am-6pm with last call at 5:30pm. If you go tag me in your pictures ano video @toitimeblog.
