I always preface productions when I think they need an age appropriate warning! PDC’s (Philadelphia Dramatists Center) Talk Dirty to Me was strictly for the adults. This mix of 7 small productions was absolutely hilarious and made with top notch editing. Talk Dirty to Me was exactly what we didn’t know we needed!
Valentine’s Day Weekend
Talk Dirty to me was done over the Valentine’s Day weekend. So many people cringe when any form of coupled activities come into play. I assure you just like with any other PDC plays they are meant for adults and they aren’t exclusive to your status. This was the humor we needed to break up all of the sentimental feelings that was floating around. Was there profanity? Yes! Absolutely-hence the name of the show!
Production Quality
I’ve seen some amazing theatre now that production companies are becoming more and more creative. Finding a way to pivot during this hard time is no easy task. PDC has found a way to step up to the challenge. The production for Talk Dirty to Me and I apologize to all of the other productions thus far, was exclusively well done. Keep in mind that a lot of PDC is complied or fellow writers and actors/actresses! One play in particular in this medley of goodness was Dirty Words.
Dirty Words
This was by Davidbdale. It was directed by Laura Peranteau. The actor Tillman Gruenberg played two separate parts. Not a big deal? It sure was! He was not only the suspect but the interviewer. Hands down it was probably my favorite one. It had a lot to do with how smoothly and effortlessly he played both roles! The quality in being able to switch back and forth and have it prepared for a live show I thoroughly enjoyed.
Well Spank my Ass
If you think that having an Only Fans account in these days is a mess for married couples, how about finding our after logging into one that who you see is your actual spouse? This was the premise for this play. A lonely husband finds out that his wife who has “clients” is really a phone sex operator! Yup not too far fetched in 2021! I mean the way life is going nothing should seem wrong! Now let’s add another layer-your brother is aware as well as helped maintain the website!
Talk about giving reality television a run for their money?! I laughed so hard. Great acting as well as it was a great play written by Majorie Bicknell! Amy Benson was good to be honest I didn’t catch initially that her “clients” were the ones you don’t openly speak of! Matt Melenas and Dan Shaked had amazing chemistry as they were able to play off of one another well!
Now because I am providing you with a link for you to view the entire show I want to also highlight one other play!
Sex in a Jar
This was a play that was about a couple who after having a time with keeping the spice in their relationship went to sex in a jar as a way to help with suggestions. This was hilarious but also has some symbolism to it as well. A lot of couples struggle with ways to compromise. It’s not as easy after you have been with someone to keep the “lights” on! Both Ryan Gouldon and Brian Walsh had an amazing comedic timing. I laughed way more than I should. I think it felt the most close to reality for so many! It was written and directed by Julie Zaffarano!
So is this a show for you? Yes! Are you open to seeing new things? Do you not take issues with dirty words and curse words? Yes! Again even if you take the dirty words the productions stand well alone! Add the dirty words back in and you have hilarious well done comedic gold! So here’s what I want you to do:
- Donate to PDC? Why? The actors and actresses need to be supported! By supporting PDC you help to align with their mission of helping others fine tune their writing and acting skills! This is done through development programs and opportunities. When I see how well some of the actors/actresses cross between learning how to write and direct plays it’s the gift that keeps on going!
- Secondly support by following them on their social media pages: Facebook Twitter and Instagram this is when sharing is caring. Share and save posts matters
- Watch the show! If you don’t come bask happy you watched this may be a personality difference……
Thanks so much for having me PDC! I can’t wait for more! In case the actors, actresses, playwrights, and directors didn’t see I laughed the entire time and enjoyed every last minute!!
