Happy one year to my Chevrolet Traverse. One year ago we took a long car ride to Pittsburgh to get her. Her name is Epiphany. I named her that because I feel as if manifested her here. I had placed on my vision board a few years ago that I wanted a new car. It was between a Chevrolet Traverse and an Equinox. At the time my car was just about paid off so I didn’t push the purchase. However a flood took place at my house and that severely damaged my house and car in the middle of the pandemic.
Why GM?
Almost every car that I have ever owned has been General Motors or GM. When I went to college GM went over and above to ensure my car was well taken care of. I was a broke college student who bought the car outright I definitely didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg to fix it. Everytime I went to get it fixed they did right by me. When I graduated I had another GM car and the same thing. When I moved to Philly, I took my car to a non GM car repair shop and they messed my car up. I realized never to let that happen. Fast forward to the flood, my Ford Focus was destroyed. We went from having two cars to only one. I told my husband that the next car had to be back in a GM. He said we would do whatever we needed to do to make that happen.
Chevrolet Traverse
On my vision board I made it clear that of what I wanted, the color, and what I wanted inside of it. Since it was in the height of the pandemic that we would have to put our house together and we were working from home, I placed the car on the backburner. It wasn’t an issue because nothing was as open. As things started opening up my husband and I coordinated around media events and press trips and we used everyone’s favorite ride share, Uber. One day my husband came to me and said it’s time to get you back on wheels. He wanted to confirm that I was serious about the Traverse. My husband honestly did all of the leg work. The research, the paperwork and we narrowed it down to 2. One was in Maryland and the other in Pittsburgh. The one in Pittsburgh had what I wanted and was the color that I wanted.
So we took a ride to Pittsburgh and the dealer, Riverview Auto Group helped us to handle the down payment, the paperwork and more so that once we got there we wouldn’t have to be there longer than we needed since we took the kids. Outstanding customer service to them for what they did. Once we had the car, they had it with a red bow and made the purchase so easy. I had taken my vision board into reality. As I sat inside of Epiphany I was just blown away at how seamless this was. We started with a vision board, ended up with a flood, was patient for a year and now we celebrate a year of adventures with my Chevrolet Traverse.
Adventures with my Traverse
We have been to Ohio, Baltimore, and New York. The rise in gas prices stalled my road trip plans. I do plan on taking a cross state road trip. Starting in Philly and ending up in Texas while also making trips to visit family and friends. One of the things that is dear to me is to go to visit my Great Grandparents graves and show my kids different places. So stay tuned for that for next Summer. One thing to note is that when we got the car we picked it up around 5 or 6pm. Drove to Youngstown Ohio where I was born to visit my grandma. We got up at 4am and got back to Philadelphia for my son’s soccer game by noon. The Traverse has 3 rows of seating, plenty of trunk space. It handles the road so well and drives smooth. It’s good on gas even with the gas prices being high it has been doing well overall.
So if you need room like I do try the Traverse or even the new Equinox EV. With a starting price of around $30,0001 on the 1LT, the Equinox EV plugs Chevrolet into the critical compact SUV segment and is expected to be the most-affordable EV in its class.11 It rounds out an electrified portfolio that covers major segments, including full-size trucks (Silverado EV), midsize SUVs (Blazer EV) and compact SUVs (Bolt EV and EUV). Plus it will also be available with up to an available GM-estimated 300 miles of range on a full charge.
So here’s to year one and I look forward to more solo trips, road trips, and just more fun in general in Epiphany. Happy Birthday to my favorite car I have zero regrets with her purchase.
