Your face is the first one you see when you introduce yourself to someone. How you feel in skin confidence matters. I have to admit I fell off for the last few months on my scheduled facials. I went this past Sunday and definitely made sure they got me on track.

I would highly suggest that you have a consultation with the esthetician. They can look at your skin and see what you need and recommend the services that would benefit you the most. I was scheduled for the Classic Facial and ended up with the microdermabrasion. I tend to have acne prone skin, clogged pores, and more. Since I hadn’t had facials in a while this was a great way to reset my skin. Here are some of my fails with my skin and skin regiment.

I have enlarged pores. Although I can’t shrink the pores, I can minimize the look of them. Also immediately after my facial was completed, my skin was smoother and had the best glow. Skin glow is a feeling that can’t be described. In preparation for my facial I stopped using makeup at least 48 hours before. The one thing I wasn’t able to do was increase my water intake because the night before my facial I attended the Philadelphia Summer Ale Fest. So when my esthetician, Ashanni, graded my skin, I admittedly failed. My skin was dehydrated, I had the clogged pores, and more. At the end my skin looked younger and definitely was fresh looking.
Ashanni’s Recommendations for my Skin
I had been slacking on my exfoliating. She suggested that I exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Another suggestion for my oily skin was to stop using a moisturizer and my sunscreen that has moisturizer in it. So yes use the SPF sunscreen but not along with a separate moisturizer since the SPF has it built in it. Again let me caution these were things that was directed for my skin. This is why going to see your esthetician along with a dermatologist is beneficial. Of course, drink more water, etc.

- Drink water
- Clean makeup brushes and tools regularly
- Use a clean towel when pat drying your face
- Never go to bed with makeup on
- Clean your hair as often as possible so your hair products are contributing to your skin issues

What I liked about the facial process was one, it was relaxing. So relaxing I dozed off to sleep many times. In addition, Ashanni not only made sure I was comfortable but explained everything she did before she did it. To begin I was asked what music I wanted to play in the room as well. I choose to keep a spa music playlist so that it would be soft vibes etc while having the treatment done. When getting a microdermabrasion facial there is plenty of suctioning of the skin. She made sure by demonstrating on my inner wrist what it would be like before doing it. Everything was altered to my tolerance. It’s not painful at all. However if you have never had it done it can be something you want to be comfortable with.

One of the best parts of a facial is that you get to get either a scalp or hand and arm massage. I chose to get the arm and hand massage. It still felt like it was heaven here on Earth. Ashanni’s hands were absolutely the perfection of what you would expect an esthetician to have. From the first conversation until it is over her voice and spirit is what you want over you. I stress this because not every esthetician has the ability to place you into an immediate place of peace. Some do their job well but don’t always bring in that calming element. Now to keep me on track I made sure to make a future appointment before I left. They have availability on Sundays. I will attempt to keep that as my go to time.
