Good Easter Monday. I hope you had an amazing Easter with family and friends. Today there is a split between people being off of work or having to work. Many use today as a travel day from their Easter travel. Be safe. For those like myself who are home with the kids in the aftermath of the holiday weekend-may your coffee be strong. In today’s reflection, I want to mentally prepare us for an amazing week.
Monday Joys
For those who didn’t have to hit the snooze button this morning-use this day as a recoup day. For me this is the number one reason I don’t like to entertain. It takes over a day to get the house cleaned and put back together. However today is the day where I am doing that with the kids. The kids are at the age that they can assist in their laundry and fully clean their rooms. So today is a day that I use to run the errands I didn’t get a chance to do all weekend long. The joy for me today has been sleeping in until 9am and waking up in my right mind and mindset. Unfortunately some people woke up and have so much on their hearts and minds that it seems hard to see the good in the day. What are your joys for today? I’ve been stating my joys because as much pain and trials that we go through we have to do our best to find simple joys.
Easter Rewind
I spent the Easter day relaxing. We woke up intentionally after 9am. Then we watched church on the television/online. It was the best. Made breakfast and made dinner including a lemon bundt cake. Everything was delicious. In addition to relaxing and talking about what Easter means to us as a family we laid around and enjoyed each other’s presence. I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way. I am no longer a fan of packing out the church on Easter because the parking lot be overpacked with the ones who come once a year. No shade I am for it. However I go all year long, I prefer a laid back day. In addition not having to get dressed up or eating at folks home I am not a fan or fond of is my kind of day-a day of peace.
The kids enjoyed their baskets after online church. My husband does not play with the kids when he reminds them that an hour of their time is nothing in comparison to what they want to do.
This Week’s Goals
I have quite a few media events. However the events that I have signed up for are the ones that I want to attend. If you have been following the blog more closely you know that I have eliminated attending all events. This is time consuming and I want to use my time and energy in a much better way. This week in addition to media events is the start of me getting things together for our family vacation. Even though I have “plenty of time” I want to be able to spend time packing things ahead of time. There are me and the 3 kids to plan for. My husband is on their way. My kids are old enough to pack their own clothes. However, we will be gone for a week or more. I take control of the packing and use a master list to prevent having to buy more while we are gone.
Am I the only one who is a planner when it comes to packing ahead? I know anxiety while traveling is real. Cutting down on it is key. So knowing what I need and what my kids will need not just in clothes is key. Packing things like anxiety toys, stress balls, and whatever else they will need will be helpful.
Monday Reset
Even if you went to work today allow your mind to do a simple reset. This is key to making sure that whatever challenges went down over the weekend doesn’t get taken into the week. Also be clear that you prepared for this week. If not take the time to get things together. Laundry, cooking, setting your intentions for the week and adding the discipline to make it happen is key. Help your week flow the way you want it to by being okay with setting your day and week right. Happy Monday you got this!
