Good Monday morning. Today’s Monday Motivation is going to be about sharing more compassion towards others. We all have needed someone to share compassion and understanding. You never know what someone is going through. Your interaction can be a gamechanger to someone who needs it.
Monday Reset
Before we talk about ways to show compassion and love to others, let’s reset from the weekend. We didn’t have Sunday Scaries yesterday but we have ways of resetting our mindset. From the way that we are waking up. People talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed often. In reality waking up on the wrong side of the bed is simply not resetting from bad moments that sometimes are out of control. You have to be willing to think differently, take control of what you can control which often is your responses to the situation. If this morning you are feeling run down, what can you do to change it? Maybe get back into your nighttime routine. This could aid you in getting a better quality of sleep. That sleep in return can refuel you and your passions.
Monday Fuel
What are you fueling your day with? Not everyone drinks coffee. However it’s not a caffeine boost that you may need but good fuel. Did you eat breakfast? Breakfast is important to start your mind from focusing on hunger but on the tasks ahead. Did you make enough time in your morning for it? If not, how about setting or fixing your breakfast at night? It’s about being prepared. If you notice that when you don’t get breakfast that you are grabbing things that you don’t need-let’s fix that. There are a lot of on the go choices that you can provide in your home or pick up along the way. Smoothies are a great way to drink some fuel. Add a scoop of nutrients that you may need. Eat a bowl of cereal or oatmeal and fruit. Whatever you grab make sure it has nutritional value and the serving that is best for your health needs.
Compassion
We are doing a horrible job in society today with showing compassion. I have seen some of the ugliest displays throughout the day. From causing accidents to avoid letting someone in your lane and more. There is a increase in displays of ignorance. Compassion is free. You don’t have to have money to show it. But thinking about others and what they may need in a moment above your own should be second nature. If you are a boss and you know that a member of your team is struggling, offer assistance instead of a punishment. See what you can do to make their load better. I am not suggesting letting people be habitual in their responsibilities. Extend grace when grace would help someone become a better version of themselves.
Monday Putting Others Above your Own
How can you put others above yourself? Offer to take something off of their plate. Help them with a resource. Be a light instead of darkness. Smile at someone who could need it. FYI, we all can use a smile. Hold a door open for others in the physical sense and metaphorically. Be a resource or at least a place of peace. Withhold your judgement. Sometimes just because you know it’s wrong doesn’t mean you have to say it. The “I told you” sometimes isn’t warranted. If you think back you too were in places, dispositions, and more that someone once told you to avoid.
Compassion may not save the world. But it can be a difference in someone you know or even a stranger. Take a moment to reflect on ways you can share compassion today. Implement it into your own life. When was the last time you forgave yourself? Maybe something I talked about in today’s blog triggered a memory of something you need or needed compassion. Forgive yourself for missing the mark and extend the same forgiveness, love, or understanding to others today.
