Happy Mental Reset Monday! What a great day to have a great day! As I prepare for my day I’m thinking over my weekend. What joys will I bring from my weekend to my Monday? Today let’s talk about mental reset.
Mental Reset
Some people will constantly say they need a vacation. A vacation is a great way to reset. However I also know people who vacation every 6 months and still are drained. The question isn’t if you need a vacation but if you need a mental reset?! A vacation isn’t going to solve your problems. Mental resets will allow you to experience the joys of life. You can’t simply live until your next vacation. The fact that you can take one for many is a luxury. So let’s change our mindset from vacation to mental and emotional peace.
Vacations aren’t the Issue
I’m not saying simply desiring a vacation is wrong. I have several planned myself. The issue is in the mentality that vacations are the only cure to your mental unrest. Where you want to plop a vacation every 2 seconds could mean you need to seek the help of a licensed professional. This is where wellness comes into play. Although I’m a champion of therapy there are other means of taking care of your well-being.
Mental Reset Moments
When you look at you as a whole person what do you see? Are you eating well and for your health goals? What do you do for your spiritual journey? Wellness is about looking at your full well being. For mental health what is your go to? Think outside of the box. Small things like going to a chiropractor, water therapy, reiki, yoga and other non traditional ways of mental and emotional healing is important too. Step out of the box towards where you want to be.
Creating Peace in your Home
Often times as we search for mental resets we tend to look outside of our homes. Create a peaceful atmosphere inside of your home. During the pandemic many people fixed their homes to be an oasis. One thing you need to look at is your first look of when you step into your home. Add small things like pictures, posters in amazing frames with sayings, decorations etc that make you think of a peaceful existence. You can do this from any budget. Also sometimes simply decluttering and throwing out the old helps too.
Check the Temperature of your Home
After you get the initial look of your home, think about bringing in items like diffusers etc. Invite only-this simply means stop allowing people to pop up when they want to. People coming over and not allowing you to check temperature of your home needs to stop. I’m not talking about whether or not the air conditioner is working. The temperature of your home means moods. You may need to make sure you’re in the mental headspace to entertain.
Mental Wellness and Company you Keep
Who you have around you matters in your mental health journey. It’s great to have loyalty but if that loyalty disturbs your peace reconsider the people in your inner circle. I have had friends where I had to step back. I was once a negative person so I attracted the same types of people. After re-evaluation I began to make changes. Those changes caused me to have to switch up my friend list. It’s important for me now not to be around negative people. The type that as soon as you say hello they go into complaining mode. I’m not suggesting you dump your friends. Simply stop giving them your energy in great levels.
Mental Wellness-Creating a Safe Space
No matter what you need for your own mental reset get it. I’ve done the infrared sauna and other self care methods for mental clarity. Sometimes sitting alone and creating a place of calm is helpful. I’m my basement is my office in my home. In addition I’ve created another space that I can either create or use as a calm corner. My diffuser, calming music, journals, and anxiety toys get used in those areas. You can create that for yourself.
Happy Monday and take your wellness and journey today seriously.
