Happy Monday. Now I may be a little extra on my energy due to me getting over 12 hours of sleep. I wanted some rest for Mother’s Day. I broke up that sleep time with periods of movement but I got it. So my coffee isn’t as strong as it needs to be but my energy is overflowing. For those who don’t feel the same way let’s find a way to get pumped up for our week.
Monday Focus
So on days which is most likely my normal I wake up tired. I may have gone to bed on time or been up late but nonetheless I am tired. However I set my Mondays by looking at my schedule and seeing what is pressing. Once I determine what needs to be done I develop a plan to attack. How do you set your week? For instance make a week and daily list. What are the the non-negotiable. I place things like brand deadlines on that list. The things that would be nice to do I set in the middle. These are things that I incorporate into my plan if I have time. Often times when you wake up and simply just do without a plan you may find that you are overwhelmed.
Non Negotiables for the Week
Make a real list of what is non-negotiable. Stop adding other people’s wishes to your non negotiables. Just because its pressing for someone else don’t allow them to dump on you. For instance when you are at work its normal to have a plan and have the plan change. Sometimes some coworkers will add to your list because they didn’t plan ahead. For instance I had a manager ask me to do a listing of some sort. This list would take days to produce. She wanted that list within a few hours. I had to talk to her about what is the real deadline. She admitted that she could give me the days but wanted to impress her boss with it in a few hours. I negotiated a 24 turn around time instead of a few hours. Sometimes communication will help to get to an understanding.
Self Care in your Monday
So Mondays are hard. They are the first day of a traditional work week. So many thoughts are on your mind and heart as your week starts. Add some self care into your Monday. This morning I got up and did the basics of what I needed to do. I fixed a special coffee with a little vegan caramel and my favorite creamer. I turned some music and a podcast on. Got into some movement. It’s all about adding what you need into your Monday. Find the simple joys. For instance today I can’t and won’t entertain too much complaining. So that means as much as I love my friends and family, if they come to me with an issue I am going to listen and ask if they need an ear or looking for a solution. If it’s an ear I have a cut off moment for myself. I don’t have to take on everyone’s burdens today.
Monday Flows
So as your Monday starts what do you want your flow to be? If you woke up late and you are running on fumes, don’t let it stay that way. Take control of the week’s narrative. What can you do to change your energy? Simple things like doing a reset. Finding a way to set your new tone may be helpful too. I love taking a quick walk, sitting on my porch to people watch and enjoy things and around me. Podcast listening or even an audio book are simple ways of changing your mindset. Whatever it is don’t be afraid to step in to what you need.
Happy Monday. Let’s get the energy flowing. Let’s get the goals focused and crush all of our goals. Have an amazing day and week.
