The Millennium Biltmore Hotel is located in downtown Los Angeles. It has some definite pros and a con that I want to discuss in the review. I choose the location due to the fact that I was attending the LA3C festival. So how did this beautifully aesthetic hotel measure up?
Location of Millennium Biltmore
Again its located downtown Los Angeles. This was the first time I stayed downtown. I normally stay at one hotel near the airport. The LA3C was about a 10 minute ride. Ubers to the LA3C was less than 10 dollars. The hotel is extremely large. I mean there are over 9 floors to this property. The location, makes it easy to walk to get food, Target, and more without taking an Uber.
So I enjoyed the convenience of the location. The first day there me and Mercedes of DG Speaks took a walk to Target in less than 10 minutes. With any location no matter where you are in the world you have to be watchful. There is security around the entire property. I appreciated that. Once beyond the property more closely to the corner is where a few sketchy people were. However the presence of security made me still feel pretty safe.
The uber to the hotel was about a little over 30 and when checking out it was over 40. Had I flipped and stayed at the hotel closest to the airport I would have saved the fees but spend them to get to and from the LA3C festival. For me this averaged out.
Room Sizes
Not all of the rooms are the same size. I booked a double room. Upon getting there I checked in with no problem. I was sent a precheck in that made it quicker before arriving too. The room I received was a little small. I paid it no attention until Mercedes came to the room. She stayed in a single suite the day before. We went to the front desk to ask to see if there was a bigger double and there was. I do not remember if we were able to select the sizing of the room when I originally booked. So even for a double, they have varying sizes. Thank you to the staff for upgrading us to a bigger double without incident or charge. The difference with the first double and second double was closet space, size of initial room, and room a hotel safe.
Meals in Millennium Biltmore
I had breakfast the second day of my stay. First day I went to Starbucks which is located on the corner on the same block as the hotel. For all of my Starbies friends you will be happy. The second day of my stay I wanted to eat in my room, relax, and get work done. The Rendezvous Court Cafe is absolutely breathtaking. There are ample seating for any size party. The staff served us with great care. I got the Red Velvet pancakes, caramel latte, and side of breakfast potatoes. Everything was made well and full of flavor. The only regret was not having another meal or going to the bar. The food was hot and prepared like I wanted it to be.
Christmas Spirit
The hotel is large and beautiful. The holiday spirit is alive and well there. The tree is towering and beautifully decorated. The entire hotel is decorated well. I loved the Christmas carols playing throughout the hotel as well. There are plenty of photo spots to be had.
Cleanliness of Millennium Biltmore
The hotel is clean. From the first room to the upgrade the rooms were well cleaned. I pulled back sheets, checked under beds and toilets-all were clean. The cleaning staff did a great job cleaning our rooms while we were gone without annoying knocking on the door while we were getting ready. The cleaning products that they used lingered but smelled really good. No harsh bleach smells that some hotels have. Our towels were changed daily without having to ask.
Cons or Changes
We had to ask for the heat to be turned on. The property itself is older. So they had to turn the hot water on to heat the room. This had to be done twice. Once in the original room that never was fixed and the second time on the upgraded room. I would have liked for it to be done ahead of time since it was pretty cold already in Los Angeles.
Before someone reading say how would they know you were cold, keep in mind that the option could have been done. We controlled the thermostat. But not having it come on with heat after turning it to heat is an issue. They corrected it and we were warm for the rest of our stay.
Check in was good, the food great, the rooms clean, and an issue with the sizing of our first room-upgraded to a new room. The staff was wonderful which means that if I needed to stay in the area I would stay there again. Thank you to the staff and for doing your best to accommodate and making us feel at home. I enjoyed my time there. There is also work out facility and pool.
