It’s that time of the year for LumiNature. Get your family and friends together as you celebrate all things seasonal. Open now until January 7th make the season twinkle a little more.

Tickets are sold for a specific time of your choosing. It will allow you entrance into the zoo for the time selected. In addition; please be sure to arrive on time. Once inside you can view as you please. There are several spots once inside for food and drinks including alcohol inspired drinks of your choosing. Food and drinks are at your own expense. There are 14 zones that all have something different. The anytime tickets which would have allowed you to go anytime you wanted without a specific time are already sold out. Tickets are 20-28 per person if you’re not a zoo member. They are 18-24 if you’re a member. You can also purchase parking at the same time as your LumiNature tickets.
What is LumiNature?
It is a walking light tour of over 1 million lights. Each zone has a different light scene. They are immersive in every way. It’s for all ages and bring a bright light to all who visit, in addition there are also actors who are lit up as well. Please be considerate to all of them as your passing through. In addition many of the lights pay homage to the beautiful animals that are within the zoo.
What’s new this Year?
If you remember I’ve been going to LumiNature for the past 3 years. It’s one of my family’s most beloved winter holiday tours. This year they have added more scenes like the penguin that illuminates the area with Philly pride and more. More Christmas trees that have so many unique themes like the giraffe tree and more. This is just the beginning of the new changes including keeping of the Flamingo Tree that so many love.
Why is this a Must Go Treat?
Although from now until the end or the season it will get cold, one of the benefits is going with friends and family. Walking the light tour is really a great bonding experience. Joy and happiness are two words that come to mind when I think about my own personal photos and videos. Warm up with some hot chocolate, apple cider and more. Also so many photo opportunities are available.
Things to Keep in Mind
There will definitely be an increased amount of people at LumiNature. Please pack patience. There will also be increased amounts of strollers or wheel chairs. I can’t stress enough the amount of people who tend to forget that. It will be dark when going so please keep an eye on small children. There are clearly marked areas so please do not cross them. Pro tip have your debit/credit card or electronic payment. It saves time at the concession stands.
If you’re or anyone in your party is sick consider going a different date. It will be cold so consider to bring hand warmers. Winterize your family with hats, gloves, and scarfs and even layer up as well. I took my daughters since my son was sick and we definitely followed these tips. Also although mask are not required I would bring one to warm up your face.
Thanks to the Philadelphia Zoo and Aversa PR for having me and my girls! I plan to make a mommy and me time for my son and I.
