Les Misérables is happening now until September 8, 2024. The time to get tickets is now. One of the things that you will notice is when you go to this show is that the mics were on. The singing and performances are absolutely phenomenal.
Before you go to see Les Misérables
Make sure that you already have your ticket. You can always purchase them online or even before the performance. However, you do run the risk of not being able to see the show at the time you seek. In addition, this is a long performance. Expect to be in the theatre for at least 3 hours with an intermission. Even though the show is long keep in mind that you won’t notice the time due to the performance being stellar. If you are taking younger kids, my personal recommendations are that they are no younger than 12 years old. There is a large amount of adult language and scenarios that you may not want to explain to a younger crowd.
There is a use of loud sounds, flashing lights, and fog machine. I personally have noticed that the sensitivity to loud sounds has me using my Loops. They were perfect for the performance.
General Storyline of Les Misérables
The story by Victor Hugo follows Jean Valjean who was sentenced and served 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his starving sister’s child. He helps a single mother, Fantine to raise her daughter Cosette get away from her living conditions. The inequality that took place in France during this time was on high alert. The story follows how love when present can really cover a multitude of sin. So, get ready to see love at its finest and watch the action unfold.
The Mic is on
The performances seem to be stronger than last year’s. I was blown away many times. One of my favorite performances was Mya Rena Hunter who played Eponine. Her voice made me want to stand up and give her a standing ovation during her entire performances. She didn’t hesitate to bring the vocals and it was much appreciated and welcomed. Her role of Eponine was phenomenal too. Watching the desperation in her character as she falls in love with Marius who is in love with Cosette. If you have ever been in love with someone who was in love with another you know how gut wrenching that can be. She showcased her range in this performance and for many who could understand her plight she was probably the breakout character of the night for me.
In addition, Jake David Smith who played Marius is one to watch as well. His performance was solid, and his singing is great as well. I enjoyed watching how he brought life to the character of Marius. I am going to be honest since I had seen the production last year I came into the performance as a way tosimply see it, but the show renewed itself to me as soon as it started.
Love unfolds in Les Misérables
The show tests the concept of redemption. We all have had moments where we have done bad things. So, seeing the art of forgiveness unfold in such a strong way its almost impossible to go home without that theme ringing true in your heart. We see the show tug on the heart strings especially when we see the younger cast members take on their roles.
I highly recommend the show and love to see the life that the show has taken on this time around. This taught me a lesson on shows. Although the shows may repeat the show is always different due to who is the one who is performing. Go and see Les Misérables before it ends in Philadelphia or one of their North American tours. Thank you to Bryan Buttler Media, Carole J Morganti, the cast of Les Misérables, and Ensemble Philly arts for having us. Tickets are on sale!
