As we continue to celebrate Family Fun Month; Legoland Discovery Center is your spot to be. We have visited Legoland Discovery in Montgomery County a lot of times. It’s located inside of the Plymouth Meeting Mall. One of the things outside of the exploration of Legos is the peace of mind of having indoor fun it gives to the parents. So if you want your child to explore, build, and have an amazing time, Legoland is your go to! Thank you to Legoland Discovery, Visit Valley Forge, and Bryan Buttler of Bryan Buttler Media Relations for having us.
What is there to do at Legoland Discovery Adventures?
One I will do my best to break everything down as well as some things you should know before you go. If you have been following the blog for awhile you know that often times I take the hits so you are better prepared. I look around at everything to give you as comprehensive look at behind the scenes. When you walk in you must present your ticket or purchase your ticket. There are 4 ticket tiers you can get. No judgement-get the that meets your budget. I do believe its budget friendly especially if you have multiple children like me.
Ultimate Play Ticket
This gives you admission VR experience which is new, a collectible, and VIP photos. This is the package I would say that you should get so you don’t have to break down and buy things separately.
General Admission Ticket
That gets you in the door and there’s nothing wrong with this ticket. I have had this ticket when I first went to Legoland Discovery a few years ago. At the time I didn’t know the value of the tickets and with 3 kids I wanted to save money. To be honest kids won’t know the difference in the pricing.
Extra Value Ticket
This is a great ticket if your child is going to want the collectible. I highly recommend this if you want to avoid buying Lego sets at the end. Not that I haven’t purchased plenty of Lego Sets-my kids usually get one for their birthdays. However if you go often if you’re in the area, you may want to save money.
Annual Pass
This is the one you should have if you live in the area or close, I definitely think is a great pass to have. I love this for snow, rainy, or no school days. This is an instant activity built in for days you have nothing to do but want to get out of the house. This gives you admission anytime you go. We loved having an annual pass.
Before you Go to Legoland Discovery Center
- They have food and drinks available-they do ask you not to bring in outside food in case of allergies of other kids (if you need assistance please reach out to staff)
- If you have smaller kids be watchful of them because kids will roam and there are kids of all ages
- For older kids, teach or tell them to be watchful of the smaller kids
- Pack patience depending on when you go it could be crowded
- Once school gets underway and you still have smaller kids at home, go during the week before nap time is best
- Food is not expensive I got all of us snacks and something to drink for about $25 total
- Use debit/credit card while in there
- The only thing you should have to pay for is your ticket, food, or lego sets you want
- With traveling with older kids find a place inside as a designated go to spot if you are separated
- Kids will have meltdowns-so be prepared if there is a child not sharing find a staff person before confronting a parent directly (or speak at your discretion) it is a kid zone place so be aware of your language
- Bring hand sanitizer or use theirs onsite there are many thing to touch and see
- Kids must have socks to play in the jungle lego area-so unless you want to pay for them bring them or have them on
Imagination Express
This is fun for the whole family. It’s a train ride that you use a wand to discover the story of how legos are working behind the scenes. We always start with that ride after we take our family picture. So if you love a little ride it’s a lot of fun. If you have a stroller you will have to park it on the side. So have some fun before you explore. This ride is at best 5-7 minutes. Please be respectful of the staff. Make sure to follow all instructions and no getting off the ride while its in operation.
Legoland 4D Cinema
So this is where you can sit and enjoy an amazing 4D Lego themed movie. They have the posted times on when the movies start. I would highly recommend getting in line about 10 minutes before it is to show. Sometimes you may need about 15 minutes. You will walk in and be given 4D glasses. The glasses are not for you to keep. I also heavily clean them with wipes. It is your choice.
They are sanitized before you get them. Please do not keep them. Expect fog as well as water, etc to be used during the movie. It is for all ages but just like any other movie younger kids may get restless. I suggest doing the movie as early on in your visit. If you have younger kids sit towards the exit should you have to take a younger child out. Refrain from eating or drinking inside of the theater.
Miniland Philadelphia
While inside you will enjoy miniland. A little replica of some of the best places in Philadelphia. I love it. From Geno’s to Pats and the Eagles stadium someone did an outstanding job building them. They are there for you to enjoy with your eyes and less with your hands. While inside of Legoland, there is a switch often from daytime to night. They lights simply change often. The first time that happened I was taken back. It never goes pitch black just simply darker and lighter while there.
Pirate Adventure Land
So this huge pirate shaped play area is a lot of fun. This is where you will need your socks. All children should sanitize their hands. In addition to that there is a limit on the amount of kids that can be inside at one time. I have been at Legoland many times this was the first time I had seen as many kids inside. They did stop play time when they thought play was rough. They brought the kids down to remind them of the rules of not horseplaying, no running, and be mindful of the smaller kids. Parents aren’t allowed inside. Parents stand around watching their kids so if you’re not playing in that area, avoid it.
This is just the surface of what is available in Legoland. There are Lego Friends Heart Lake City to see the some of the other Lego girls who love to build. These young ladies are about their educational pursuits and more. It’s a space for all its not necessary a Girls Only place FYI.
More To Do at Legoland Discovery Center
Again there is way more than this to do. You can take a Master Builder class, have a birthday party, and even do Ninjago too. We were there from 10am-3pm. And when I tell you that wasn’t enough time to go through everything I mean that. So if you are thinking of going just know there’s something for everyone even Baby Yoda.
So add Legoland Discovery Center to your list of must do. It’s a lot of fun. They change so much. I know some adults who love Legoland too and for you there is Adult Night on September 16, 2022. Adults 18 and up are invited to come. 21 years and old can consumer adult. This should be a lot of fun. Make sure you up for their newsletters so you don’t miss announcements all year long. We go for Halloween and Christmas events and trust me you don’t want to miss.
Arts Montco Week and Jazz Festival
So for August being Family Fun Month and more get out and explore. Also explore the rest of Montgomery County and Valley Forge areas. There are plenty of places to eat and enjoy. Arts Montco Week and Jazz Festival is coming September 16-25th. Think music, jazz brunches and events.
Legoland is located at Plymouth Meeting Mall, Unit #1055, 500 West Germantown Pike; Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Parking is free always. It’s located outside of the Food court so if you didn’t want the food inside of Legoland Discovery Center you are more than welcome to eat at one of the eateries.
