Summerfest 2023 was an amazing time. If you love wines and other spirits, cheese tastings, and live music this was your must go to for next year. I made sure that I advertised this event on all platforms. The Summerfest was in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The atmosphere was calm and fun, and everyone was extremely welcoming. So, what to know for next year, dos and don’ts and more.
What to Know Before You go to Summerfest
It is advised that you save your tickets to your phone or make sure that you save it to your pictures before you go. To expedite time, have your ticket as well as driver’s license ready as you walk to the entrance. Also keep in mind that this event is for adults 21 years and older. No exceptions will be made including children or pets. To be honest it made for an even better experience not having to watch out for strollers and more. If you do not drink, no worries there were a few mocktails available. Your ticket includes a souvenir cup that you will use for your tastings. There are amazing restaurants near by as well as food to purchase on site. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes too.
Assortment of Wines and Spirits
There were a few of my favorite wineries like Chadds ford there. I enjoy not only sipping familiar wines but also trying pairings that I had not had before. In addition, they also have other spirits available. For one my husband doesn’t like Gin but was able to try one that he liked. You get to learn about the wines and spirits and the makers behind them. Be prepared to have a designated driver. Those 1-2 oz pours do add up. Plus, mixing of wines with spirits can be a lot to handle. Designated driver tickets are only $20 and will come with another type of wristband to identify you so that you aren’t served any alcohol. The live music is also a hit too.
What to Expect at Summerfest?
Expect some walking. As Summerfest continues to grow that will mean added vendors and more spacing. The crowd is a lot but not overwhelming. I say that because for me I tend to get overwhelmed in larger crowds but felt like I was completely fine while there. Be patient as you wait in the lines for pours. At the top of the hour, it is more crowded. Want to avoid come about 2 hours before it ends. This will allow you to walk freely and enjoy. In addition, if you purchase 6 bottles you will be given a tote to take home. Any cheeses purchased will and can be kept in a cooler for you to pick up before you leave. Just make sure that you don’t forget about it.
The vendors are ready to educate you on pairings and more if you ask. I asked a lot of questions on what the motivation was in producing their wines and spirits. No one held back. There are people on the ground like me doing social media. So, there could be a chance that you will make it on someone’s social media reel or more.
Is Summerfest Worth the price?
In my opinion yes. This is a no brainer for those who love wines and spirits. The price is worth it, and I honestly know that I felt like I had been at an amazing summer event with Kennett Square. The town was also extremely welcoming to me as well. Coming from Lancaster, Kennett has the same feel to me. It’s a great way to get out of the city of Philadelphia and enjoy some fun. The drive was less than an hour too and it’s a direct drive. I had no issues there or back. As with anything drink responsibly. There were plenty of water available for anyone who needed it too. So, although Summerfest is over, save this for next year. There will be other events that I will direct you from the area and more. So keep your eyes out on all of the social media platforms. Thank you to Kennett Square Collaborative for having me. It was my honor covering this event. I also took home some bottles that I plan to share at various events coming up with family and friends.
