Jose Pistola’s Serving Care with Every Bite

Last night I had the opportunity to dine at Jose Pistola’s and the food was great but the service stellar.

Dining with Purpose

Have you ever taken the time to talk to your server? I know they are masked up these days but they are people with stories. I try my best to get to know those serving me. Last night we had David as our service who also is the general manager. He was beyond personable. So let me paint the stage. We get to our reservation a few minutes late thanks to road work. There are all kinds of people waiting to get a seat. I talk to the busy staff who despite the crowd acknowledges us. We are seated and right away taken care of…hold this thought….

Cool Options

Jose Pistola’s is a great place for drinks and great bites. Again I’m a taco enthusiast so it was another taco night but with flare. I love options and creativity. Jose Pistola’s has options like Soft Crab and Chicken Tinga. But in appropriate line up, let’s start with drinks and appetizers!

Appetizers

If I’m at a taco location there’s no question I’m going to start out with chips and salsa. Jose Pistola’s has salsa and 5 different guacamole options! For someone like me who eats guacamole several times a day at home, I knew I had to have some. It was fresh and full of flavor! I had no issues starting. My girl Pam started with the wings. I mean she raved about them from the first bite to the last.

Drinks?!

Nothing and I mean nothing goes better with tacos than margaritas. So I am the weird type when it comes to flavors of any drink alcohol or not. So I was glad that they let me mix mine. I mixed pomegranate and strawberry. Of course I have to have a sugar rim.

By the end of the night I ended it with a Pistola’s Old Fashioned. It’s a mix of Mezcal Tequilla, Resposado, and Peychauds. It was good. Now being a drinking pro I knew better than to mix light with dark so about an hour after I got home I felt that decision. It wasn’t a situation where I was sick but a lesson learned on judging a drink’s sweetness and disregard the alcohol principle. Jose Pistola’s drinks are strong even the ones that seem light. So drink responsibly! Oh and not pictured they have the to go adult pouches like the Capri Sun. You can take one of their amazing margaritas home but no mixing for the take home pouches.

Taco Time

So again I love options you can’t get anywhere. Jose Pistola’s has Land and Sea tacos. I was impressed. 11 tacos, 7 burritos, small plates and large plates too. Jose Pistola’s will have food for every single palette. This is a great option for gathering friends and family.

Soft Crab Tacos

This was a pure highlight. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was too beautiful to eat but somebody had to do it. Look at this beauty. Oh and beyond looks it taste as good as it looks too. It has a perfect crunch to it!

Chicken Tinga

It’s almost Ike a stewed or shredded chicken if that makes sense. One of the best crema sauces I’ve had in a long time topped it. So good we asked for some to take home!

There’s no way I was leaving without having their churros. It has such a great chocolate sauce.

I mean I wish you could see my face. These are the times I should have gotten a picture. I was soooo excited!

Let’s talk about care

So again when I talked earlier about getting to know the ones serving you, it’s true. I was glad to hear that Jose Pistola’s was fully taking care of the servers and staff. Hearing how wonderful the owners of Jose Pistola’s have been to their staff during and after the Shut Down made my heart full. I haven’t heard that from anyone in the food industry. I could have left that conversation out but in reality, we could use a good story. I’ve seen on this side of blogging where stories of Philadelphia owners restaurants push their workers out, breaking promises, and giving jobs away announcing them on social media. Absolutely shameful!

Jose Pistola’s gets my full stamp of approval! I will most definitely be back!
