We are almost to the end of the month let’s do a check in. How are you doing with your fitness and wellness goals. Remember wellness goals also always include a mental health check in. If you are struggling, I am going to give you some ideas that I use and hope that it inspires you to add your own.
Mental Health Moment
I have been increasing my personal therapy. I also in addition made sure to be strategic around my appointments. For instance, I like to schedule then on a Monday when I know that I do not have events planned. In addition, I look ahead of my schedule and see what is happening. Are there dates in the month that I know I could be more triggered than others. Those are the days that I will schedule. For instance, I had therapy yesterday. The inauguration took place, and I wasn’t sure how I would feel. Thankfully it was perfect.
My therapist helped me unpack my backpack. This is the concept is of all the things that I am carrying having a safe space to unpack where I will be heard, is with my therapist. Another thing that I notice that as I get closer to the appointment something usually happens. For instance, the last few months it has been an argument with my husband. Not even a small argument. It’s usually something that is elevated. However, these check-ins help me prepare for my unpacking session.
Movement for Health
So, I have been clear in that we don’t have to be gym heads. However increased movement is something that we all need. Get moving. I know this cold is not the best motivator. If you aren’t feeling the spirit of going to the gym for those who have memberships, get up and move in your home. YouTube is free. Use it. You can do a home yoga workout and more. Either way don’t sit around. It is hard but its very necessary. I can’t tell you the times that you will feel bad if you don’t get your movement in. Plan and execute it.
Wellness and Health
I have been doing a lot of new things for health. Later this month I will be doing water yoga that is on the highest point of the city with the city being the backdrop. To say how excited I am is an understatement. This has been on my to do list for a while. I am on a mission to find ways to increase my own personal wellness. Remember wellness includes how much you are sleeping, consume, and more.
If you missed the blogpost of experience with cold plunging check it out too. Life is to be lived. I am not going to make this wish lists of experiences and not do them. So, you will see more things coming from me on the page. I am enlarging my personal territory. I can do difficult things.
I
February on the horizon
Since we are almost done with the month the time to plan for February is now. I already have some wellness initiatives that I can’t wait to indulge. Also, taking in fun things for Valentine’s, Galantine’s, and Black History too. I have a planned staycation on the books as well as planning for my personal summer trip. I haven’t done a solo trip that wasn’t a business trip in so long. These are the things that I am personally working on. Here are some other January related ideas to try:
- Ski trip
- Visit museum/ art gallery
- Go to a new coffee shop
- Attend a concert
- Make a in home movie night
Either way make the best of your month!
