If you are like most people sleep is not your best friend. From attempting to do better with various methods. From nighttime routines, supplements, and just being more involved in the power of getting the rest that I need, it’s truly important. So what are some of the things that I have done to get the sleep that I need? During Blogher Health, Dr. Susan Mitmesser, VP Science and Technology at Pharmavite, makers of Nature Made talked all things rest and sleep. I have done sleep blogs before but this one serves as a great reminder that you need to rest a little better.

Sleep Schedule

It’s important to get rest so by scheduling sleep and a wake up time I am more aware of it. For instance what I do in the day will help in those regards. For instance, being aware that I may not be able to hang out past 9pm helps. At events that I have more control over, I simply make sure that I leave at the appropriate time. So no extra drinks or food. This helps keep me accountable to my sleep habits. If here is an event like a theatre production that may be longer, I adjust my sleep schedule for the night. This takes discipline. A lot in life requires discipline in a lot of ways. If you have considered a sleep schedule and stick to it. It’s the hardest to do on the weekend but beneficial in so many ways. I found I had more energy. Things like using my time wisely helped too. I cut out a lot of foolishness when it comes to being idle on social media or people too for that matter.

Night Time Routines

Being up watching idle television or playing online games are great in its time. However having a dedicated sleep pattern helps with more restful sleep. For instance, since coming back from Los Angeles I gave myself a few days to get it together. Tonight, I will start my night time routine again. This consist of my face washing routine, journaling, and more. If you have never thought of having one, now is the time. Again it’s about a dedicated routine that signals to your body that it’s time to wind down time. I also use my doze and sleep light. This light and sound machine is clutch. It helps me to rest a little quickly and stay sleep. Something about the power of sound that helps.

Sleep Supplements

With any supplement make sure to talk to your health care provider before starting a new regiment. There are plenty of sleep and stress aids that can help you get a better nights of sleep. They are some that are non-drowsy and they are not habit forming. While at the BlogHer Health conference I learned that Nature Made has new Well blends vitamins and supplements.
