October Holiday Edition
Happy October! This is the first month of the 4th quarter. How did we get to this point? With that being said there is a lot to do and the year will fly by. From elections which is November 5th to the holidays I want you to dive more and more in your self care and taking time away from things that don’t serve you. So this month I am asking you to prepare. Prepare for your months ahead. From the holiday to all of the things that is on your plate.
Depression Education and Awareness Month
It is important to understand that depression looks differently on and to everyone. For instance when I am depressed I am not generally sad. If anything I am more aware and heightened. Also for me I tend to look a little more angry. So this month educate yourself so you can be a good service to yourself and others. Too many people are fighting silently. So when we continue to push narratives that hurt others it actually makes it hard for others to heal. Another goal is to learn some of the ways that you and others can heal.
- As much as possible speak out and share your story if you feel safe to do so
- Encourage others to get the help that they need
- Be supportive of others without judgement
- Be honest of where you are
- Set realistic goals
- Talk or speak to your doctor about ways like therapy (they have resources)
- Do things that make you feel good
World Menopause
I have been honest about my own menopause journey. In 2017 I ended up having a full hysterectomy that was medically necessary. After months of losing blood, going into many doctors and even blood transfusions my doctor connected me to an OBGYN who looked at my chart and didn’t flat out suggest a hysterectomy but listened to my story and together we came to the conclusion that it was necessary. It was the first time that I was heard and seen for the many years dating to my first period that I had been speaking on it.
Menopause is a life changing event regardless if you do it naturally or medically. What I do know is once you are through it your life can open up for the better.
10th Year Blogiversary Loading
In one month, I will be celebrating 10 years as a Blogger. This year I plan to make the celebration that much bigger. This is a huge accomplishment. I started this after my postpartum struggle. That time was sacred. I was already struggling with my body and mind after my last baby. In addition every change that could happen in these 10 years I have gone through them while also pushing through and sticking to what I love.
The collaborations are also one of the parts I love. Being able to decide what I want to get involved in or walk away has given me a sense of accomplishment.
