Toyota Tundra and Food Insecurity

I collaborated with Toyota as they had over 80 Tundras haul the food to Citizen Bank Park in the most beautiful caravan! I was assigned to a Tundra and my driver, Marissa drove us. The food was pre packed before we got there. It was beautiful to see the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association come together to help this amazing cause.

Food insecurity is a real issue not only in Philadelphia but around the world. Too many people are seeing the rise in costs but not a rise in pay. Families and individuals are feeling the pinch and having food that they can rely on is not only a great thing but vital to people’s day to day success.

Haul Away Hunger and Fun

One of the things that I enjoyed was seeing so many people come together. We also witnessed the Philadelphia sports teams’ mascots come and lend a hand. From morale to leading the charge of unpacking each mascot brought immediate joy.

Philabundance and Toyota thought of everything to keep the event engaged. From the music, food, fun times with the mascots, selfie stations and more we all enjoyed as well as networked with one another. The Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association had many local dealers. Learning about them as individuals and collectives was intriguing as well. Also learning about other local giving opportunities was available to help during the year was beneficial.

Happy 40 years Philabundance

Celebrating 40 years being a leader of support to so many here in the Philadelphia area is no easy task. Meeting the needs of many and knowing how important your work is could be overwhelming. However year after year Philabundance has stepped up to the plate and made it all happen.

Did you know?

Philabundance has a training program to help others learn, get trained in the culinary industry. I find that to be impressive. This puts a new diverse team of culinary giants into the work force.

In addition the program also equips the students with life skills. I love that. This is a lost art in many ways. Sometimes we take for granted that people simply know things. Teaching them and preparing them will definitely help them mold their own futures. Many of them come from low to no income environments. It reminds me of the concept of

Doing your part for Hunger

There’s so much that you can do to help those dealing with food insecurity. You could donate your time to Philabundance to help pack food and more. This is a great way to give of your time. There are always available times to volunteer. Another way is to give a donation. Think about this as an all year give. Some people focus on giving during the holidays only. There’s nothing wrong with giving during the holidays. Think about people who need all year long.

So many people are a paycheck away from food insecurity. I’ve said this before but living in a homeless shelter as a child has always made me see people as people and never look down on others. My parents always taught me that any one of us could be a meal away from dealing with food insecurity. Life happens to everyone.

So what a great way to help in the packing process last week. Then turn around and see those same food boxes turn into pallets of food for so many deserving Philadelphians and beyond. We had a great time. If you’re looking for an amazing truck with great functionality, space, and upgraded features like front and back cameras and more consider the Tundra. Thank you to Toyota and Philabundance for having me. Let’s help haul away hunger!
