Happy Friday and cheers to an upcoming New Year. This is the first tine in a long time that I and my family have no plans. Even with the beginning of the Pandemic we are always known for having our Storr Family New Year bash. This year the Bash is cancelled as we are recovering from Covid-19. More on that later.

Christmas Celebrations

We had a great time celebrating Christmas as a family. Our family started our day in Philly of course. We ended it in Lancaster, PA with my extended family. Gift giving is special. It’s not just about a gift but giving consideration for those who the gift is for. Listening and knowing who the gifts are to be given to. We enjoyed seeing the smiles on our children’s faces. I also enjoyed seeing how excited my husband was too. I gifted him a pair of skates. He is an amazing skater. He is also a size 15 shoe. Having his skates made for him was such a joy.

My parents made Christmas dinner in Lancaster and karaoke was a hit. it was so good seeing all of the children’s excitement.

Covid-19

On late Sunday night some of the members in my family got sick. By Monday I was in the bed and couldn’t get up. I felt like I was super sick. By Tuesday it was apparent that we needed to get Covid-19 tested. We went to one location and the line was blocks long. Majet owner of Diva Girl posted that our resident member had a business that she could test for Covid-19.

Covid-19

Viva Care Solutions owned by Valerie Caraballo, MSN, RN, FNP-C came to our home and we were tested. It was then that we were determined to be Covid-19 positive. As much as the diagnosis was hard to hear it as a relief to know why were sick. For the next couple of days we have been healing. We are still experiencing symptoms. Thankfully we are vaccinated so it as intense as it was in the very very beginning it is getting better and more manageable. So if you are in the Philadelphia area and need to be tested, I highly recommend her. You can come to her facility or have a private home test which is what we selected. The privacy made it more comfortable for us to test especially for our children.

We have done so much this year. I am very proud of myself. From working with more brands to collaborations.  We hit 1.1 million views this year. We contributed work with What to Expect, BlogHer, SheMedia, Feedspot Philadelphia Top 35 Lifestyle Bloggers, contributor on Beautiful Brown Girls as a Lifestyle and Wellness Blogger, and already secured brand deals walking into 2022.

It’s been a busy year to say the least. As the world opened up we took Philadelphia by force as safely as possible. As the world is in the midst of this surge I only pray that we find a way to stay safe.

Storr Family Year in Friday Review

My family has been doing amazing. For one my children have gone back into traditional school. In addition they have all made honors and I am proud of them. It hasn’t been an easy transition.  So it’s good to know that they are doing what needs to be done to work hard. My husband also has been making moves at his job. Facilitating multimillion dollar deals.  He also at the end of the year received his Advanced CNAP (Certified Non Profit Accounting Professional). So kudos to the Storr Family. We also bought a new car and that was a wild ride literally to get it. However as a family we have done quite a lot. We went on a vacation safely. We also got back into date nights as a couple. The Storr family is blessed.

Personal Year in Friday Review

I have maintaining my health this year. Putting myself as a priority. Although my blog allows me time in and out of the house to make some of my dreams come true, I have made sure I got out and did things that I needed for me. This has included getting out with friends safely, me time, and just taking my mental health a priority. I am proud of me. It’s not easy trying to balance it all.

The reality is balance is an ever ranging job but it’s important to me.  Also with the new car that we purchased, I love that it was something that was on my Vision Board. It allowed me to work towards and achieve through vision and that is why I named my car Epiphany. I lost my old car over a year ago due to the floods we experienced at our house. As we made the changes to our home, we had access to one car for quite some time. We are a family that having 2 cars is key. So I am grateful to cross that off of my list for the year.

Conversations with Toi Friday Drop

Fridays mean a new episode is out.  We have Gramps Jeffrey as our guest.  His first book, The Secrets of Retailing…How To Beat Walmart” was written to help entrepreneurs and small businesses compete against the big guys. Arianna Huffington had read my book and then asked me to become a contributor to The Huffington Post.

Here is a link to the close to 100 articles he’s written for this publication: Huffington Post Articles by Marc Joseph The articles are about small businesses, education, family, the homeless and several other nonprofit topics dear to all of us.  His new book, “I don’t want to turn 3” is helping kids learn the basics of sharing and responsibility.

So no New Year celebration for our family. We usually do a family celebration at our home. This year we will be resting and we continue to recover from Covid-19. I pray that you are in continued health. Happy New Year to all as we transition over to 2022.
