Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I hope your week was well. My week was busy and the way the weekend is set up I will sleep well this weekend too. This week had a lot of highs and lows so let’s get into what worked and what didn’t work for me.
Friday Movie Release
Today the anticipate and highly critical movie, Don’t Worry Darling is out today. This movie features Harry Styles and Florence Pugh as they are in an experimental town. It’s a mystery and thriller and I saw it last week. I will cautio that it is a ride. My sentiments is that it showcases Harry Styles in an amazing light. I wasn’t a full on fan of his prior to this but he definitely made me one by the end. My suggestion is for you to view it for yourself and take some friends. Thanks to Allied Global who hosted a few of us at the Filter Club. My first experience there and I look forward to going back.
Fall Vibes
We are officially into Fall. That means I can decorate and drink/eat my pumpkin things in peace. If you are a Fall person the nostalgia of decorating, doing Fall inspired activities, and making memories are at the top of the list. With that could also signal a change in weather and also Seasonal Depression. If you suffer from Seasonal Depression please know you aren’t alone. Many others are in the same boat. I suffer yearly with it. It can sometimes take place in late Fall and last until Spring comes. There are a number of things that you can do to ease the pressure of it. For instance, getting outside for 10-15 minutes per day is one suggestion. Opening your blinds or drapes to help bring in natural light is helpful too.
Keep in mind Seasonal Depression looks differently on everyone and at different times. What worked for some may not work for you. Do what is best for you. Seek help if you need it. Take breaks and say no. I do a lot of breaks and focus on my mental health above anything else.
Conversations with Toi
We have another episode. We talk about Seasonal Depression, cheating scandals of the week, and recovering from harmful allegations. So tunein. We have no guest this week but that doesn’t stop us from having an interesting time. This week also in celebration of the Fall, discuss the drink of the week and that’s an spiked apple cider. Make sure you share the episode, listen, and leave comments. I enjoy reading what you have to say.

Blogs you May Have Missed this Week
As always content is king. I want to support you in all that you need. So we cover a lot of ground each week. Next week we will talk simple Fall things that you can do to increase self care and stay on a budget. Here are the blogs for the week:

Volvér Philly: New Chef BigRube
This week I was wined and dined at Volvér. BigRube takes soul food and elevates the menu. Each chef that has come through the residency program under Jose Garces does their thing. It’s something uniquely special about Big Rube that sets him apart. With that being said let’s get into the menu. Fried Deviled eggs, Chef’s garden salad, biscuits and berries were the first course.
Second course was an entree you could select. I went with Ashley and Elle. Combined a the table was “Othello” Pasta, Branzino, and Famous Fried Chicken. I have to admit everything we had was delicious as it was served with a Lemon Cake at the end. The vibes at Volvér are like nothing you have ever had. You must make that your date night spot. I say that because this may be one of the restaurants where you leave the kids out of. I love what Chef Jose is doing with these residencies.
This Week’s Self Care-Friday Check in
Self care comes in many forms. This week I went and got my hair and nails done. Took an hour nap one day this week. I was more mindful of my timing. For instance instead of idle tv watching I eliminated quite a bit. I swapped out almost a week’s worth of caffeine by having non decaf tea. However, I did have my Pumpkin Spiced Latte on the First day of Fall. I enjoyed 2 days of downtime and went to be at least 3 days this week early-ish. Also today I will be back at the spa for some treatments as I also attended both doctors and follow ups that I needed this week.
Well send some prayers of strength as I have a full jam packed weekend ahead. I hope you have an amazing weekend too. Do something nice for yourself. Keep an eye on my social media as I announce as many Fall Fest that are happening this weekend.
