Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. No scaries here as we go into the weekend. How was your week? This week definitely had a lot of highs and a few lows. However one thing that is still constant is that what I thought would take me out hasn’t. So what were the media events that I really enjoyed and what is the weekend looking like?

Kirk Franklin Reunion Tour

Over the weekend I took an overnight trip to Maryland to attend the Kirk Franklin Reunion Tour. If you are an avid reader and follower you know I attended the last one here in Philadelphia. This one was a little more special to me as it had Fred Hammond on the line up. Exclusively he was the winning reason I decided to go. I wasn’t disappointed at all. Fred Hammond definitely sang the songs of my heart. I personally use a lot of his songs for my own mental health. Whenever I am feeling low it is my go to. Another highlight was being able to worship and relax. In addition, to the songs and company-hanging out with some of the girls it was a real treat. We also brunched at this amazing spot that I will share on the blogpost tomorrow so stay tuned.

Toyota x Philadelphia Eagles Meal Packing Event Friday Review

A few days ago I did a collaboration with Toyota. We were able to go and pack meals for those in need. Philabundance will be the recipients of the food. They aid in helping families with food disparity. I love that. As a child that was in a homeless shelter it is important for me to do what I can to help others who are less fortunate. It really was a lot of fun. Also Swoop, the Philadelphia Eagles’ mascot was present. After we packed the food we all went to Xfinity Live for food and drinks then to the Phillies game. We got the win in case you were wondering. All in all it was an enjoyable night. I will be partnering with them next week for an adventure so stay tuned for it.

Therapy Woes for the Week

I have come to some good revelations in therapy. I even did therapy the night of the official Presidential Debate. THankfully I found  a semi quiet room and continued through. I was so glad that it pressed through. It has been liberating to be in the position where I am seeking answers, not confiding in everyone, and trusting the process. In addition I am preparing for the strong possibility of seasonal depression. Taking care of me and having weekly sessions has helped me in the last few months.

Conversations with Toi Friday Podcast Drop

It’s another friday and that means that a new podcast episode is dropping. On the episode I am talking about the highs and lows of the presidential debate. It was interesting watching it all unfold. The things that baffled me and really it’s shouldn’t have had knowing the source. Another topic is the newest accusation of P Diddy, Sean Combs. These stories are heartbreaking. As a woman and a mother, it breaks my heart that I feel powerless at times raising my kids especially my daughters. The ways in which men who choose to be like this makes it hard to maneuver.

So like always make sure to listen to the episode, become a subscriber, and review on whatever platform you are listening on.

Weekend Plans

This is a heavy media weekend. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is usually means that I am doing at least 3 events back to back. I will be phasing out media events as heavy this month. The cut back is to allow me to rest and shift my focus on myself and the family. I am going to be super selective in who I continue to align. There is a sold out Wine Fest this weekend and it’s going to be a beauty. I am stepping it up this weekend with staying on theme and more. So look out for that content. In addition a lot of my content is shifting to whole body self care. This means self care from the inside out. If you are looking for Philadelphia events this weekend, trust Visit Philly to have you covered.

Fall is about a week or so away. So that means cue in the Fall activities.

Friday Movie to Prepare for-The Wild Robot

I will be showcasing a free movie screening on September 23, 2024 in Neshaminy Mall.  DreamWorks Animation is set to release a new adaptation of literary sensation, Peter Brown’s #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot. The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.  The movie screening as always is free and you can get your tickets for it here.

Also for those who love to do puzzles and more here are some activities to download and enjoy.

So that is the update. A lot of running around in mom mode, just celebrated my son’s birthday this week, got away over the weekend, came home to a lot of opportunities, and now preparing for a long weekend of managing content and weekend events. Thank you for the continued support. I hope you find one activity that you love and that fills your cup. I will be doing a little self care and taking in the moments surrounding me. Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend.
