Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. Oh what a crazy week we have had. Media events, Roots Picnic, and a brand trip all in one. Here’s what is happening this weekend and more events to look forward to this month.
Blogs you may have missed this week
I have been back focused on blogging. Today makes 4 days back to back blogging and I’m loving it. No matter how much videos have become king, blogging will be my first love. Thank you as always for your love and support!
- Christmas & Holiday to do: Self Care Edition
- Winter and Self Care
- Brunch at Carina Sorella
- Preparing for the New Year
- A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical
LBI with Fearless Restaurants
This may one of my favorite trips to take. Going down to LBI in Jersey honestly is a self care all in one. This year for the first time it didn’t rain enough to ruin our plans. We were able to be in the hot sun as we sat rooftop, did yoga on the beach and so much more.
I love going to Daddy O because the boutique hotel really does cater to beach lovers like myself. From enjoying the sun touching my skin, enjoying some down time in my room, to eating and drinking well it has it all. There has been some updates such as room upgrades and always new menus and cocktails. We also go to Tuckers Tavern and it’s one of my favorite beach restaurant to go to. As always make sure you save space to try one of their fishbowls.
Harrah’s Casino in Philadelphia Summer Music Series
If you love music, casinos, and even a spectacular fireworks display then you need to attend one of their summer series. For the first one we danced and partied with none other than Fat Man Scoop. He stays on brand. He’s known to use his voice and dj skills to get the party started. It made me feel as if I was somehow transported to the 99/00. If you know you know. Nonetheless whatever he says you got to do and he meant it.
Harrah’s backyard is one spot for you to enjoy fun outside of the casino world. From parties, cocktails, races, and more there’s something for everyone. Get more information on the Summer Music Series.
Bad Boys Ride or Die Friday Movie
This is the movie of the summer. We are in for a time and you must get to the theatre to see it. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back but are now on the run. They will go the distance learning who they can and can’t trust along the way. I saw it earlier this week and at the IMAX theatre and I will be going to see this movie again. I hosted a preview and I want to personally thank those who came out. We had a time.
Conversations with Toi Friday Podcast Drop
The newest episode is out today. I talk about people pleasing and how we have to train ourselves to come away from that way of life. Holding someone’s hand so you can make difficult news better for grown folks is out. So how do you stop going backwards? I talk about the ways in which being inauthentic to yourself is detrimental to your mental health. Give it a listen, review, and share!
Juneteenth with African American Children’s Book Fair
The presentation will draw from Olugbemisola Rhuday Perkovich well-researched children’s picture book, Mae Makes A Way: The True Story Of Mae Reeves, Hat & History Maker. Donna, a contributor to the book and Mae’s daughter, will share personal insight into the life of this very accomplished woman. The book was published in collaboration with the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and Penguin Random House.
Youth attendees will receive a free copy of the book (one per family while supplies last). The program will also include a youth book fair. A book signing will follow the program.
Diner en Blanc
August 15, 2024 is the date for Philadelphia. It is a great way to dress in all white and enjoy the festivities. You don’t know where the location is before hand. It’s one of the best kept secret. Before you ask no I don’t even know. Either way it’s a sparkle of a night with music, food that you bring, champagne and so much more. Don’t wait until the last minute. Start getting your items now.
