Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. It is another great week filled with media events and more. So here are a few things to keep in mind. One enjoy the cool down as we are getting a small break from the heat wave and we all could use it. Thank goodness for the rain we were able to experience. In addition to media  events, I want to give an update on my mental health journey and more.

Me Day-Friday Check In

I had a half of a me day and this was by order of my therapist. We are on a journey of getting back to me and the things that I love. So, with that being said I stayed in bed until a little after 1pm. I got up in enough time to get my nails done and attend a block party. To be honest I struggled with going to the block party not because of the people but because I wanted to head to the beach. Now that gives me an excuse to head to the beach in the coming weeks probably with one of the besties as we do a beach trip once every summer for the day. It is important to encourage you to take time for yourself.

On the weekends you can see me cleaning and cooking large meals. I needed some time to do nothing. No cooking and limited cleaning. Guess what I found? Everyone in my home survived. So, I will be doing more of that. I did however miss my running group because of a time change. It caused me to go to the gym for almost 2 hours and it was what I needed to help me in my fitness journey.

Panoroma Wine Bar

Nothing is better than wine and pasta and at Panorama Wine Bar they have a family style special. For 45pp you get a slew of appetizers that includes pasta, a main dish, and a tower of desserts. It is decadent. You can also add a carafe of wine we choose Rose, and we were not disappointed. When I tell you that it was so much food for that price it made no sense. However, it is on Sundays from 2-9 giving you a late lunch, early dinner, or dinner option. When you make the reservation make sure you include that note. Trust me you are going to want to enjoy. Thanks to Amanda of Phillyfoodandbarrs for arranging this.

Dining for the Dogs

White Dog is all about the dogs. Dogs is the basis of their businesses. So, with that said, it was great to support the cause. We enjoyed dining on whatever we wanted while enjoying cocktails. The one that I loved the most was Tito’s Doghousewhich was made with Tito’s Vodka, Aperol infused with strawberries, lemon juice, agave syrup, and strawberry puree.

It was delicious. They also  featured  gourmet hotdogs as well. And those who wanted to come could bring their pups and enjoy eating outside too. It was a great event that was held at all their White Dog locations. I personally can’t wait to go back to Chester Springs one this weekend with family.

Friday Mental Health Check in

Like I said I have been doing therapy once a week for the past few months. I even wrote about him when I talked about firing him. Here’s the thing I was never going to fire him. However, some people need to know that therapy isn’t like television. You don’t lay on couch, talk for an hour, and skip home. Most of the time I leave drained and emotional as I process. However, the changes that I have seen in myself can’t be denied. I am coming back to a better version of myself. In addition I encourage you to all consider getting mental health help too.

Passeggiata in Passyunk

I attended this event, and I must say it is wonderful. What this is every Thursday it’s a time to shop, eat, and savor all the good things that happen on Passyunk. Everyone will be out strolling and having a good time. Shop some amazing businesses and take in the vibes.

A few stops that we took was with Mecha Chocolate. We had a pairing in conjunction with the Bottle Shop and let me say it was delicious. These chocolates are decadent and so good. Ash de Foodie even took some home well it never made it home but that was the goal.

Another stop is at Occassionate where we enjoyed some of the most beautiful, crafted items. I am talking about gifts for yourself like shower steamers, planners, to gifts for others. One thing I love is that it is well decorated, visually stunning and has gifts crafted towards who you are giving them to. You can go wild in there.  P’unk Burger is a great stop for me. They always have made to order burgers and shakes. But they even added their new double smash burger too. Not shown is there new Orangesicle shake. I had the vegan chocolate banana, and I could use another one of them right now.

Other businesses that are some of my favorites are Barcelona Wine Bar, Flannel-don’t sleep on their brunch menu, Juana Tamale, Noir Restaurant and Bar and many more. There’s a lot to shop from bookstores like A Novel Idea, to even vintage typewriters and flowers and flower arrangements from Creations from Coppola. Either way make your way to Passyunk and even bring your four-legged friends too. This is happening now until August 31st!! Enjoy!

Funny Girl at Ensemble Philly

If you are looking for a show that will blow your mind, Funny Girl is the one. It is outstanding. Katerina McCrimmon is one to see. Her vocals are some of the bests I have seen in a long time. She plays Fanny Brice. This star-studded cast is busting with talent including, Melissa Manchester who plays Fanny’s Mom. If you know you may remember her from the tv show, Blossom as Maddy Russo.

It follows Fanny as she makes her way to stardom. However, the road is not always as smooth as it looks as she makes decisions to follow her heart and it costs her almost everything.  Other  notables are Izaiah Montague Harris who plays Eddie Ryan. You can see the show from now until July 28, 2024.

I took my oldest who loved it as well. I would caution bringing kids younger than 10 to the show. It runs about 2 hours and 50 minutes with an intermission. Enjoy the signature cocktail called Hello Gorgeous. Get your tickets now.

Gym Vibes-Friday Workout Fun

For the first time I was able to take my oldest with me to the gym. She asked and to be honest we were all shocked. My oldest is the one who doesn’t like to sweat so we asked her again to make sure. However, she did great. Her intentions were to get her legs ready for walking the flights of stairs at her high school. She isn’t lying even when we visited it was a lot.

I am proud of her. She now has her own membership so she will be going more often with us. For me I have been getting back into a heavier flow of gym time including my running. Not too far is always my Coldest Water Cup which you can get too. It keeps your cold drinks cold for up to 36 hours, leak proof, and durable. Use my code TOITIMEBLOG to save 10% off.
