Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. Oh, what a fantastic week it has been. From Beyonce concert and media events to getting my focus back for the gym and movement. So how did everything flow this week?
Weekend Beach Day
I and one of the Besties took a day to the beach. It was super helpful. I needed that time with just me and her. In addition, we didn’t take our kids as we sometimes do. Beach days are great ways for me to practice the art of self-care. Being around the water helps me breath and more. It helps to relax me as well as fills my cup. I am not a fan of being in beach water too deeply, but I like the ability to be around it. One of the things that I like to do is work on my schedule, write out my goals, and simply read a good book. We enjoyed eating really good food at Playa Bowls as well as Marina Grille. It was my first time at Marina Grille but it won’t be my last. Service was a bit rushed, but I chalked it up to the busyness of the day.
Bey Day
I was not originally going to the concert. My husband and I heard the ramblings of how expensive the tickets were and decided this would be the concert that had to be missed. With our plans being focused on Disney it made sense. However, my husband is one of those men who will search. To be honest this is a lesson on listening to the crowd. I never checked the prices we simply went with whatever everyone said. Hours before the concert there were tickets for 200. We got ours a little before that actually a few weeks almost right after we got back from Disney but the point is-research for yourself.
One of the things that I have learned with going to summer outside concerts is to be prepared, research, and have your know before you go. There was no bags outside of small clutch bags allowed that wasn’t clear. Also we could only have a 20oz unopened bottle of water. The venue allowed people in around 6pm and parking was going to be a challenge. All of this we made sure to read the announcements given from the venue before we left the house. To be honest, we started reading on Monday.
How was the Beyonce Renaissance Experience?
Beyonce was everything and more that I knew it would be. We got into the parking lot at 6pm. The concert was stated to start at 7pm. I knew that wasn’t going to happen. So we spent under the 2 hours enjoying conversations, drinks, and meeting up with others who also were close to our section. We sat in club seats and those seats had a huge lounge to sit and cool off. It was pleasant. The concert was a little over 2 hours of hits from not only Renaissance but some of her other hits. I danced the night away. I will never not be happy going to a Beyonce concert. For those in other cities look into tickets that may be available. Philadelphia had quite a few seats available the same day that in my opinion were not bank breaking.
Kedera Tiki Bar and Tropical Oasis
There is a new tiki bar called Kedera open now in Center City. It is located adjacent to Uptown Beer Garden at 1500 JFK. When I saw it is a magical place for drinks and bites, I mean it. It takes you to a vacation vibe almost immediately. Some of the drinks even come in coconuts. I highly recommend the Orange Creamsicle. It is deliciously made without being overly sweet. I think this new location is a smash hit. From semi private seating and more you will be transformed into an oasis of fun in the sun.
Gym Vibes-Friday Health Vibes
I am back in the gym and I love it. There are many times when motivation to move comes in waves. Sometimes we tend to be hard on ourselves if we lose the ability to enjoy the gym or if we feel that we have fallen off. Remember our bad isn’t our worse. With that mindset I dusted myself and got back into the flow. It has been amazing. I have had increased energy and more. So if you are like me who needs that wave of inspiration-make sure you are doing it for you. Set your clothes out and be prepared. If you are like me that the second, I sit, I fall asleep set your gym time before you get to that point. For me before dinner works or after an event. Either way I am proud of myself and can’t wait for next week to hit the gym some more.
Conversations with Toi Podcast Friday Drop
We have a guest on this week’s podcast episode, Kristina Mand-Lakhiani. Kristina Mand-Lakhiani is an international speaker, entrepreneur, artist, philanthropist, and mother of 2 kids. As a co-founder of Mindvalley, a leading publisher in the personal growth industry, Kristina dedicated the last 17 years of her career from teachers like Michael Beckwith, Bob Proctor, Lisa Nichols, and many more.
On July 10, Kristina released her brand new book – “Becoming Flawesome“. In her book, Kristina shares her own journey from being on top of a personal growth empire like Mindvalley to stepping aside, conscious uncoupling from her husband, and walking her path towards being more honest with herself. You can find more information about Kristina here: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and website. She started her career in a government office in her native Estonia and, by her mid-20s, achieved a level of success mostly known to male politicians at the end of their careers. Also I cover the Beyonce concert and some tips to help you make the experience more enjoyable especially if large crowds make you nervous.
Well that is all I have for now. I will have so much more for next week and more content coming your way starting this weekend. Enjoy and happy Friday.
