Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I hope your week is off to a good start. With us almost halfway through the month how are you feeling? Explore your thoughts as you prepare for the New Year. Holidays are in full swing, so I have some suggestions on how to finish strong.
Beyonce Renaissance
I went to the concert twice in two different states. The way in which Beyonce gives you all of her energy is unmatched. I am apart of the Beyhive so of course I saw the Renaissance movie. I took one bestie and my daughters, and we had a great time. Not just the songs or the dancing but the messaging. I loved how Beyonce showed behind the scenes that it took to make the show a success. It was great but a lot of work. From the many people on tour especially the woman who helped create this stage from conception to reality it was massive. The part that got me upset was the fact that Blue Ivy saw the messages that some raggedy adults had to say about her.
Christmas Events in or near the City of Philadelphia to try:
Adventure Aquarium: Christmas Underwater
Diggerland Christmas Light Show
Christmas Village in Love Park
A tradition that I love doing is going to Christmas Village. This year they have the Festival of Trees. These are trees sponsored by businesses. You as a patron can vote on your favorite one as well as donate towards Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania. It is a great way to give back. As with Christmas Village you can also eat amazing foods, boozy drinks, and shop for personal items for those on your list. Many of the vendors are small business owners. I love shopping with small business owners because you end up supporting your own in your community.
Stop by the Ferris wheel and other holiday delights around Christmas Village. There is some fun for the whole family.
Migration-Friday Movie Premiere Screening
There is a new movie called Migration and it’s coming on Christmas. I am hosting a special screening on December 16, 2023, at KOP (King of Prussia) Regal at 11am. It is free but you will need to register.
The Mallard family is in a bit of rut. While dad Mack is content to keep his family safe paddling around their New England pond forever, mom Pam is eager to shake things up and show their kids—teen son Dax and duckling daughter Gwen—the whole wide world. After a migrating duck family alights on their pond with thrilling tales of far-flung places, Pam persuades Mack to embark on a family trip, via New York City, to tropical Jamaica.
Conversations with Toi Podcast Friday Drop
There is a new episode out today. I talk about a few media stories. In addition, I go back and talk about the ways in which we tend to spend time living in the backward thinking of how things are done. For instance, with therapy some are stuck in the thinking that it is wrong to speak up about. Talking to someone, taking medication, doing some homeopathic remedies to help with your mental health is all fine to do. So listen into the episode as we talk how we can be better individuals.
The Color Purple
If there’s ever a movie to boost it’s The Color Purple. It’s amazing in every sense of the word. It comes out Christmas Day. I saw it for a special screening. Do take tissues with you.
Weekend Plans
I will be attending the Very Philly Christmas at some point this weekend. A Very Philly Christmas is simply the ability to listen to Philadelphians in music, song, and dance. There could be guests popping in and it’s being held at The Kimmel Cultural Center from now until December 23, 2023. It’s a great family-oriented shows as I will be taking my whole family for this. In addition, if you are looking for some Yuletide fun go to Yuletide Devon for some holiday cheer. From rides, pictures with Santa and more you will not be disappointed. I will be reporting back with a full dedicated blog on what I liked about the time next week as we have been invited to go as a family.
Also I am taking one of my children to see Beauty and Beast being held at the Walnut Theatre. I can’t wait to see how this tale as old as time unfolds. Theatre makes great gifts so consider adding theatre tickets to give to your loved ones. I personally believe in experiences when you have people that already have more than enough. Also, theatre makes great gifts for families instead of trying to find individual gifts for everyone on your list. So, between that and Uber parents we have plenty to do. I just finished Christmas shopping for any of the children on my list that I needed to get things for. Next up is a few adults.
Disney on Ice, Magic in the Stars
If you love Disney you will love this show. It’s coming to the Philadelphia area starting December 24th through the 1st of January, This is a great gift for the little kids in your life. Grab your tickets now. I also will be hosting a giveaway next week on Instagram.
Have a great weekend. Get some rest. Eat well. Find one activity that you love that fills your cup and pour back into your world.
