Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. What a long but fulfilling week. I am using my new planner for content so that I can separate out my personal and content creating life. In addition to that we are on the last few weeks of preparing for back to school. In addition, this has been a semi short week for events but a great one.
Cousin Time-Friday Rewind
So, my cousin Erin set up for us to meet and have dinner and drinks at one of my favorite restaurants, Positano Coast located in Center City. I always visit my cousin Erin and her sister, Shannon. In addition we also had my cousin Lisa and Erin’s friend, Selvia present too. It could be a secret that a few years ago I had taken a step back during the heaviest time in my life from my extended family. The reasons for it I won’t go into on the blog but will openly admit that in therapy it helped me to see myself in ways I hadn’t. I stand by everything that I said in the past and don’t take it back because it honestly was apart of a saving grace that has helped me in my personal journey.
Either way we had a wonderful time. The conversations were great and, in a way, clearing the air on a few things are always a good thing. Life is short however I still stand by what I have always said about gifting peace in situations and will continue to live my life in a way that honors me and my family. The food at Positano Coast is always great. We ended our night or I should say I ended my night with them at the W Hotel for drinks and conversations. I had to get up at 530am the next morning. Thank you for having me.
Family Beach Day with the Youngers
I was excited to have been invited to my girl, Akira and family to the beach. It was a lot of us there, but we had a blast. If you aren’t new to the blog, you are aware that beaches and any body of water is my favorite place to be. This time I got into the beach water. Now you may be thinking how the beach can be your favorite place, but you don’t get into the water? Easy when I was younger a family member of mine threw me into some water and I had become reluctant to be in beach water. My therapist has me at the water in the beginning of my therapy journey to still enjoy my days listening to the waves, sunbathing, and enjoying my personal time.
I only took my daughters since my son had basketball practice. So, it turned out to be a great girls only trip. My youngest who I call the firecracker of the family insisted that I get in the water with her. Moms, let me say this as a suggestion-participate. I know we have a lot on our hearts and minds but participate. Another thing that I am doing is getting in every picture and video I can with my family. So many times, moms take the pics but rarely in them. These are memories that you are creating. We had a blast and I look forward to carving out a personal beach day before the season ends now that I have gone a few times as a content creator-brand trip, with friends, and now with family.
Tonalli PH
I had the privilege and honor to dine at Tonalli PH. It is a pizzeria and Mexican cuisine. The food is delicious. We are talking about combining everything that I love about Mexican food and putting into tacos, pizza, and more. The hospitality is even better than the pizza. Customer service is always important to me. When I was parking, I saw a young couple walking towards the shop. Little did I know that was the social media coordinator for them. By the way I was invited but wasn’t sure who invited me from the company. In addition, the conversations flowed even before they knew who I was. That says a lot. So many times, when someone is coming to review food, the customer service aligns after you identify who you are and why you are here.
Make sure you support them as well as patron there. There is plenty of parking nearby as well as the food is hot and savory. Thank you to Tonalli for having me.
Blue Beetle Movie Friday Premiere
Today the first time ever Latin led film, The Blue Beetle is out. I saw the movie this week before it came out as well as participated in some activations. For one the movie is a solid one. From the number of themes, it covered and well to the action this movie should be at the top of your watch list. I enjoyed how well it mixed and fused the story of family into the storyline. I must caution that like with many action movies there is strong language in it. So, make the decision if you should take your younger kids. Also, there is a part of the movie (no spoilers) that had many crying. It was heavily emotional in some parts, but they were done well.
It is out in theatres today so make a family fun weekend and see it.
Friday Lion King Reminder
I will be seeing The Lion King musical today. I will report back. The beloved story that we all have come to know, and love is coming to the Kimmel Cultural Campus. I will attempt to review it for this Saturday. In addition, have your before you go to the theatre edition as well. If you aren’t aware the new season of Conversations with Toi the podcast, is not back from the break but I did do a bonus episode featuring Khalifa White who plays Nala. It was a great episode and a quick listen as we discuss the preparation for the role, the lessons on taking a break, and forging forward.
Looking for things to do tonight for the kids? Take them to the last Kidchella of the season with Smith Playground. It will be a great time. Read your before you go so you are prepared and ready for a time today. That is all. Again, stand by for your Saturday review of the Lion King musical as well as other content like self-care and one more family trip to Dorney Park for your Sunday blog/content. Have a great weekend. Happy Friday and cheers to the amazing hot but beautiful weekend here in Philadelphia.
