Happy Friday and Cheers to the weekend. I am hoping this week was full of all of the goodness that it could bring. We are now out of Metro Retrograde albeit we are now in Full Moon energy. June is almost over. Can you believe it? The week was slow but the month sure came and is on its way out of here. Let’s recap this week’s happenings.
Juneteenth Happenings
I loved seeing the sense of pride and education that took place. I saw a lot of great conversations that were had on and offline. There were so many great think pieces, the playlists, seeing all of the companies that were supported and it brought joy. Let’s keep that going! If you didn’t catch the blog on Juneteenth make sure you read it. It was a snapshot of a few highlighted companies. Remember for every mainstream company there are so many that are Black, small owned, women owned, etc. that need our love an support and backing.
Father’s Day Energy
We had one of the most chilled out day making sure we gave space to my husband as he celebrated Father’s Day. I didn’t go see my dad due to me seeing him the week ahead but I made sure to send him a gift so he could get what he wanted. He also had my other 2 siblings with him and we spoke on Facetime and the phone several times that day. I took my husband and children to Morgan’s Brooklyn BBQ for some amazing food. What attracted me to them was that they had vegan/plant based options.
However when we got there they had taken it off the menu since the pandemic. I understand that since vegan/plant based options especially when your BBQ restaurant is expensive. I made the most of my meal. You can see the Reel of the goodness. Located in King of Prussia it was one of the best experiences. Great food, quickly seated, staff was on point, as well as it was clean too. I made my husband a big breakfast as I do often and allow him to guide the day for what he wanted. He enjoyed some quiet time and it was one of the best weekends.
Philadelphia Zoo Friday Late Nights
We celebrated Pride at the Philadelphia Zoo. It was so much fun. They have amazing pairings and bites. It makes for a great date night or an intimate family time. I would highly suggest having dinner or late night snacks, visiting Big Time (dinosaur exhibit) and letting the kids walk off all of their energy. Our kids are ages 12, 9, and 7 and they went to bed without issues. My husband enjoyed a quiet night. The Zoo is always so much fun. The excitement of the animals, fresh air, and smaller crowds was well worth the night. Get tickets and take Fridays to another level. The Pride celebration was a lot of fun. From the DJ Robert Drake, the LGBTQ hand outs, the crowd, and seeing the solidarity was amazing. See our Reel of the fun!
Friday nights at the Philadelphia Zoo is on every Friday until Labor Day weekend! Don’t miss out!
The Blogs you May Have Missed
We did quite a lot this week. We are attempting to make sure you have the content that you need. Summer may be full of fun so we will do our best to make sure that we enjoy it and talk about it.

Conversations with Toi
Episode 4 is out today. From Trick Daddy talking reckless on Beyonce’s good name to handling panic attacks. We don’t leave anything off the table. Don’t worry we have guests. I am in the middle of editing them and making sure the episodes are good and bring the quality. Don’t let the kids take you down this Summer. Be prepared for them. Make sure you listen, subscribe, and share the episodes. Did you know July 10th is the first year. I am too excited!!! The podcast is available on ALL platforms. Catch the episode.
What to Watch
I had the privilege of getting an advance screening of Zola. Its a wild ride. I won’t give it away but I will say it ain’t nothing like you have ever seen. Taken from A’Ziah King from her Twitter. It’s a book too. Either way it goes to show you never be afraid to tell your story. There are some triggers of sex trafficking etc. If that’s something you experienced be cautious. It’s out today in theatres and features Taylor Paige and Riley Keough. There are some amazing lessons so I would suggest watching it twice!
Mary J. Blige’s documentary is out today. I had the advanced copy of this and if you are a fan you will be in love with this. If you’re not a fan, you will still love it. They did a great job depicting her story and really getting behind the scenes with Mary’s pain her fans are used to hearing in her music. We see Mary be completely vulnerable. It’s available on Amazon Prime Studios. From the production to the transitions it was done in such a way. Mary J. Blige deserves all of her flowers and then some!
This weekend I need to pay respects to a Great Uncle, attend some events, and finish the content for July. I can’t believe that July is around the corner. Before you know it the Summer will be over. Be safe. Do what you are comfortable doing this Summer. Enjoy it to its fullest.
