Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I am a little over one week in healing since my surgery. I am doing rather well and expect to have one more week and I will be totally healed. My hope is that your week was filled with goodness. Its been increasingly hot but what did I expect in the Summer time. So how was the week, slowish. Here is how it went.

1 Year as a Podcaster

I can’t believe I have been a podcaster for 1 year. As a first year podcaster, I am proud of all 51 episodes that were done were done out of love. I have been increasing my guest as well as making sure that I am staying true to the mission. I want to use my voice as a place to speak up about all things self-care, mental health awareness, and balancing life. So I have learned a lot about myself in this year of podcasting. I learned that the way I grow is through collaboration.

Not just with guests but in other podcasts groups and interacting. I also finally learned how to create sound bytes. I am a writer not an engineer. In the beginning I had to learn the art of editing. Editing has become a lot smoothly these days. I want to thank Christina Barsi, Goodpods, and BlogHer for being the ones that helped to make this a reality.

Alex Gilbert

Today is Friday and we have Alex Gilbert as our guest today. Today we discuss being diagnosed with a learning disability, how to start the diagnosis process, and self care.

Alex Gilbert (She/her) is a New Yorker, a Mets fan, a yogi, and a brunch enthusiast. She also has dyslexia and ADHD. After spending her career working in leadership development, she decided to start a consulting and coaching business that will help adults with learning disabilities and/or ADHD like herself who have been struggling in their careers. Alex’s business, Cape-Able Consulting. Cape-able Consulting was created to help them navigate their day-to-day workloads. Her goal is to support them so they feel supported and are able to reach their highest potential. Her biggest goal in creating Cape-Able Consulting is to change the stigma surrounding learning disabilities/ ADHD by reminding people what they Cape-able of. Listen to today’s episode.

Blogs You May Have Missed

This week we had 3 new blogs. This one makes 4 and there will be a new one tomorrow. I have been trying to give 4-5 blogs a week. So when you get to a Friday know that there’s usually one more blog and Sunday starts the new week. If there is material you want me to cover, email me at [email protected]

Main Line Today-Best of Mainline and Western Suburbs Food Truck Grand Finale Party

What an amazing time that was had. From the food trucks to the glitter (call me Twinkle Toi from now on) and the vibes it was a night to remember.

Well organized and plenty of space for all to have fun and be safe it was amazing. At arrival you were greeted with a very bountiful swag bag. You were then wrist banded and off to explore on your own.

Some of the very best in food and drink were well represented. One of my favorites, Lola’s Garden was there! There was food for all from vegans to meat eaters. You can’t have great food without great drinks and wines. Pennswood Winery was represented having some of the best moscato rosé. I definitely plan to visit them in the near future for a wine tasting.

Roots Landscape Inc.

I love a beautiful flower/garden display and Roots Landscape Design did a beautiful job!The band, Back2Life was absolutely amazing! They played and sang some of the best hits. It felt really good to hear live music. Also keep in mind, everyone participated as they saw fit when it came to masks. No one made anyone feel uncomfortable either way. Mainline Restaurant Week is coming starting August 23rd-September 5th. In addition there will be events happening and I’ll keep you updated. Mainline definitely knows how to party!!

So anytime the Mainline has anything, count me in. Make sure to sign up so you don’t miss any of their events! Thank you to Mainline event coordinators, everyone who helped put it together, all the vendors, and Aversa PR for the invite!

Happy Heavenly Birthday to my Mother in Law, Deborah Storr. These years without her presence has been difficult. Read my tribute.
